Trump is a troll – but his 'ugly' pope selfie demands a damning response

The America-attacking Donald Trump descended further into the sewer on Friday, once again proving that his singular talent during his long, miserable life has been the ability to somehow always go lower, while dragging the willing accomplices who kiss his ample a-- down into the stink and the bilge with him.

I debated about whether to write about this one, because as we all know that while narcissists and 11-year-old bullies don’t love negative attention, they are absolutely terrified of getting no attention at all.

So when I saw the White House fly the hideous post (above) with no comment Friday night, I was repulsed and angered, which I know is exactly what the America-attacker and his odious enablers want.

Look, I am not a religious man, and in fact have some serious issues with the Catholic Church, so the trumpeting of this childish crap by Pope Felon the 1st and his ghastly followers doesn’t offend my senses from that standpoint. I won’t be pounding on the Bible and citing any of what I am sure are 1,473 passages in the good book that address this kind of sacrilegious gunk.

That would be sanctimonious on my part.

I will defend Catholics who take offense to it, though, because it is no doubt intentionally hurtful, which is the other thing the dead-inside Trump is effortlessly good at. Whether it be the disabled, our fallen, women, or people of color, the grotesque man-child will always gleefully manufacture any opportunity he can find to pile insult onto tragedy.

I’ll take it the woman-abusing felon who a judge said is an adjudicated rapist is butt-hurt that the recently deceased Pope Francis had the good taste to distance himself as much as possible from the devil himself.

Like most human beings, Francis knew Trump to be an abuser, not a healer ... a liar, not a truth-teller ... an unrepentant felon, not a law-abiding citizen.

Ugly.

The normal, decent and God-fearing folks across the world will never understand how any of this is OK, or far, far worse, how this kind of unholy hell was able to ascend to power not once, but twice, while violently attacking America in between.

So for that reason, and that reason alone, I decided to take public issue with this taxpayer-funded, childish display of insult and hate, and alert you in the event you didn't see it.

I know this will only fill the veins of the attention-seeking monster with the poison that fuels him, but as sure as I am typing this, sooner or later it is going to kill him. The religious true-believers, and wise-guy columnists like myself will align to tell you that when he finally goes the way of Francis, it will be straight down not up.

Remember: It’s his singular talent.

Can I get an amen?

JD Vance calls meeting with Pope hours before death a 'sign from God'

JD Vance is taking divine inspiration from meeting Pope Francis just hours before the pontiff died following a prolonged illness and hospitalization.

The vice president sat down with Fox News Digital for an exclusive interview on his takeaways from the "very gracious meeting" with the pope.

Vance, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, was visiting the Vatican for Easter but said he "didn’t plan to see the Holy Father because he was ill."

Vance said he was "one of, if not the very last world leader to actually meet with the pope."

He continued, "I took one of my relatively junior staffers, who is a devout Catholic, and I looked back at him when he was about to meet the pope, and he was crying—it sort of drives home how important this, not just this man, but this institution is to over a billion people worldwide."

Vance gave his impressions of the pope as "very kind" and "very frail" from his illness.

"We didn’t spend a lot of time together. It was mostly exchanging pleasantries, but he gave a few gifts—he gave my kids Easter baskets, and there was just this very sweet moment," Vance said.

The pope also gave the vice president a Vatican tie and rosaries.

"I definitely cherish it," Vance said.

Vance said he learned of the Pope's death shortly after touching down in India.

"I obviously felt very sad, and my thought went immediately to the pope, but also to all these Catholics who love him," Vance told Fox News Digital.

"But then it kind of hit me—oh my God—I was one of the last people to talk to him. I just take it as a great honor and a sign from God to remember that you never know when your last day on this Earth is," Vance said.

'Shut up, JD!' CNN pundit rages at Vance for 'picking a fight with the Holy Father'

Vice President J.D. Vance got dressed down Tuesday afternoon by CNN pundit Paul Begala for picking a public fight with Pope Francis.

Begala appeared on "State of the Union" with host Jake Tapper to discuss Vance's recent comments about "ordo amoris," Latin for "the order of love." Vance used the Catholic theory on Fox News to try to justify mass deportations, and the Pontiff wasn't having it.

"Pope Francis sent a message on Tuesday to clear up Vance’s comments. Without mentioning the vice president by name, he attacked Vance’s entire logic for the Trump administration’s cruel policies," wrote New Republic's Malcolm Ferguson.

The Pope wrote in part, “Christians know very well that it is only by affirming the infinite dignity of all that our own identity as persons and as communities reaches its maturity. Christian love is not a concentric expansion of interests that little by little extend to other persons and groups. In other words: The human person is not a mere individual, relatively expansive, with some philanthropic feelings! The human person is a subject with dignity who, through the constitutive relationship with all, especially with the poorest, can gradually mature in his identity and vocation."

Begala told CNN that even "Cardinal Dolan, a big fan of President Trump's...gave the invocation at his inaugural. He...says, 'Mr. Trump has been particularly sensitive to the feelings of the religious community.' Okay, a pro-Trump cardinal said that Vance's comments were 'not true, scurrilous, and nasty.'"

Begala continued, "And I've got to say, as a faithful Catholic — J.D. has been a Catholic for about five years. We're glad to have him, okay? But he's already picking a fight with the Holy Father! There's a Latin phrase for that we have in the Catholic Church, 'chutzpah,'" Begala joked.

"Yeah, like shut up, J.D.! Do your job as vice president! Don't tell the Holy Father how to run our church!"

Pope appeals for halt to Democratic Republic of Congo violence

Pope Francis on Sunday deplored a surge of violence in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, the victims of which he said included many Christians who had been killed for their faith.

“Painful news continues to arrive of clashes and massacres in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo,” the 87-year-old pontiff said at the end of Sunday Angelus prayer.

“I appeal to the national authorities and international communities to do everything possible to stop the violence and safeguard the lives of civilians.”

Francis said “many Christians” were among the victims of the recent bloodshed, “killed in hatred of the faith”, describing them as “martyrs”.

“Their sacrifice is a seed that germinates and bears fruit and teaches us to bear witness to the Gospel with courage and coherence.”

Nearly 150 people have died since the beginning of June in the eastern DRC in killings attributed to Islamic State group-linked rebels.

Congolese authorities blamed the Allied Democratic Forces group for an attack in the Beni region overnight Wednesday which left 42 people dead, including some that had been decapitated.
