'How stupid': Trump official buried in mockery after Fox host confronts him on 'hyperbole

Even Fox News is skeptical of claims coming from President Donald Trump's administration, according to one recent exchange on the conservative network.

During a Thursday interview with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Fox host John Roberts pointed out that Trump's claim during his Wednesday night address that he had lowered prescription drug prices by up to 600 percent was "mathematically impossible."

"If you cut something by 100 percent, the cost goes down to zero. If you cut it by four [hundred], five or six hundred percent, the drug companies are actually paying you to take their products," Roberts said as Lutnick laughed. "So it raises the question, how much of last night's speech was hyperbole, and how much was fact?"

The commerce secretary pushed back, giving a hypothetical example of a drug that previously cost $100 dropping to $13, and saying that while that is an 87 percent drop, it could also be understood that the drug would have to increase in price "by 700 percent" in order to return to the old price.

"It all depends on how you look at it," Lutnick said. "Basically what he's saying — and we all know what he's saying — is we are hammering the price of drugs down."

Lutnick's explanation didn't go over well on social media. Journalist Greg Sargent of the New Republic observed that "Lutnick actually laughs at Trump's math here before quickly catching himself."

"I’m glad this is on record so Lutnick can look back at how STUPID he sounds," tweeted actor D.K. Uzoukwu.

"A middle school student should be kicked out of class for the ridiculous explanation," wrote management consultant Eric B. Lewis. "There is a literal war on education."

Tahra Hoops, who is the director of economic analysis at the Chamber of Progress, took issue with Lutnick saying "we all know what he's saying," countering "no we do not!"

"It is not normal for the president to fabricate, to hyperbolic percentages, the amount he would be able to bring down a specific price!" Hoops exclaimed.

'Wait wait wait': Fox News shocks experts with medical report on 'elderly' Trump's bruises

Fox News shocked political observers on Saturday with a report in which the conservative network noted "elderly" Donald Trump's apparent hand bruising.

Conservative commentator Elisha Krauss over the weekend addressed the prominent bruising, saying on Fox, "That doesn’t look suspicious to me at all, having worked with a lot of A-list talent who are out there shaking a lot of hands. I mean, the guy is an elderly man. Your skin gets thinner as you get older."

The kickback came quickly from news analysts.

Dem strategist Adam Parkhomenko said, "I’m sure Donald Trump is thrilled that they are talking about the bruising on his hand on Fox News."

April Perry asked, "Really?" and added, "Google Kinsula," which appears to be a misspelling of a recently FDA-approved medication for early symptomatic Alzheimer's disease.

Ron Filipkowski said, "Wait, wait, wait. Fox is SERIOUSLY, ACTUALLY trying to get their audience of lemmings to believe that the heavy makeup and band aids on Trump’s hand for months is from shaking hands?!?"

"They have nothing but contempt for their viewers," the former federal prosecutor added on X.

Political analyst Tara O'Connor simply utilized an eye-roll emoji.

Ex-Republican Ashley C. Dinney said, "Cope more, Fox News."

"Trump looks like s--- and everyone knows it," Dinney added on Saturday. "He looks worse by the day."

Host Radio Justice said, "Trump is a well-know germaphobe who has ghost-written decades ago that he rarely shakes anyone's hand."

PatriotTakes, which purports to track right-wing extremism, chimed in with, "Fox News can’t stand anyone questioning the White House narrative on Trump’s hand bandages."

Fox host admits layoffs hit highest point in decades under Trump

Layoffs in the United States have surpassed 1.1 million in 2025, according to a new report, and even one Fox Business host who is typically in President Donald Trump's corner is taking notice of the dire economic picture heading into 2026.

During a Thursday segment on Fox Business, Maria Bartiromo – who Trump was reportedly considering naming as his running mate in 2024 — read the details of the report aloud on her show, and remarked to panelist John Lonski that she had previously pressed Trump about the impact of new technology on jobs.

"Job cuts surpassed one million – the highest October total since 2003," Bartiromo said. "Companies cite cost-cutting AI in October. John, this is exactly what I asked the president about."

"That's the problem. Not only were announced layoffs ... the highest level since 2020 — that's a recession year — but announced hirings are also down considerably," said Lonski, who is the former chief economist at Moody's Investors Service. "That's not a good mix. And you have to worry about jobs growth. If you don't start growing payrolls, eventually that's going to hurt the growth of consumer incomes and, in turn, consumer spending will suffer."

"The other thing that I want to point out is a lot of these people who are losing jobs because of AI have white-collar jobs. But as you noted, we have a lot of openings for people with skilled trades," he continued. "How in the world are we going to get somebody who has a background in accounting, maybe finance, to become an auto mechanic?"

As both Bartiromo and Lonski observed, artificial intelligence replaced 54,700 jobs in 2025 alone. E-commerce giant Amazon announced in October that it would be replacing approximately 14,000 workers with AI "to operate like the world's largest startup." Outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas (Challenger) also found in its layoff report that Trump's tariffs are responsible for roughly 8,000 layoffs across the U.S. economy.

Challenger also found that the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which was led by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, was responsible for an estimated 300,000 layoffs in 2025. In addition to its impact on public sector employment, residual effects from DOGE were also seen elsewhere, with businesses and nonprofits laying off 21,000 people as a result of federal funding cuts.

'That speech was heinous': Texts reveal Fox News host enraged as Trump refused to concede

Bret Baier – a veteran primetime host on Fox News — was apoplectic at President Donald Trump's refusal to concede his 2020 election loss, according to recently released text messages.

The Guardian's Jeremy Barr reported Monday on the text messages, which were released as part of voting machine company Smartmatic's lawsuit against the conservative news network. One exchange between Baier and an unnamed recipient was particularly noteworthy in that the broadcaster used profanity to describe his feelings in the wake of then-President-elect Joe Biden's win over Trump.

"I am tired. And p——. And running out of suits in NYC and there are no f—— bars open. Or casinos," Baier wrote several days after the election. "I may just tear some Trump campaign spokesperson's head off tomorrow. That speech tonight was heinous. Totally heinous."

The speech Baier referred to was likely the Nov. 5, 2020 speech Trump delivered at the White House, in which he repeated the debunked claim that millions of votes were cast illegally in an effort to steal the election. He repeatedly alleged "election interference" from "powerful special interests," and said "phony polls" were conducted in an effort to demoralize his base.

"In Georgia, a pipe burst in a faraway location, totally unrelated to the location of what was happening, and they stopped counting for four hours, and a lot of things happened. The election apparatus in Georgia is run by Democrats," Trump said of Georgia's 2020 election, where he narrowly lost by less than 12,000 votes.

Fox settled a separate defamation lawsuit by voting machine manufacturer Dominion Voting Systems in 2023 for $787.5 million. The network has so far failed to settle with Smartmatic, which insists on a public trial. The network's bid to delay the trial — which does not yet have a firm date — due to the Trump administration's indictment against the company was rejected on Monday by the judge overseeing the case, according to Barr.

"Today’s decision is an important victory for Smartmatic as we progress in our efforts to hold Fox accountable for its lies," a company statement read. "The court made clear that Fox’s attempts to delay accountability won’t work, and its day of reckoning is coming."

'Why? This is a mistake': Fox News contributor melts down after learning of new Trump move

Donald Trump just made a huge mistake in releasing a Republican from prison, according to former George W. Bush administration White House press secretary Ari Fleischer.

Fleischer, a Fox News contributor who served as press secretary under then-President George W. Bush from January 2001 to July 2003, chimed in over the weekend after learning that Trump commuted the sentence of disgraced ex-GOP representative George Santos. Santos not only was found to have lied to voters about his background, but also to have committed wire fraud and other felonies.

"Why? This is a mistake," Fleischer wrote on social media over the weekend. "Wire fraud and identity theft are serious crimes."

Fleischer then added, "There is nothing about Santos that suggests he deserves this, especially after serving only three months."

Fox News claims Nazi symbol in GOP office was 'optical illusion'

Fox News reported that a swastika found in the office of Rep. Dave Taylor (R-OH) may have been an "optical illusion."

Despite being clearly visible in images obtained by Politico, staffers claimed to Fox News that the symbol may not have been visible to the naked eye. The emblem was found embedded in an American flag that was pinned to a cubicle on Wednesday.

"One source described this as an 'optical illusion.' Another said the swastika was 'easy to miss,'" Fox News correspondent Chad Pergram reported on X.

According to Pergram, "dozens" of congressional offices received the flags. However, at least one office said it threw out the flag because the swastika embedded in it was unmistakable, he reported.

The reporter suggested that there could have been "an effort to deliberately embarrass offices by bringing them an American flag – which featured a swastika which wasn't obvious to the naked eye."

'Truly sick': Conservative blasts Fox News for snubbing 'veteran imprisoned by government'

Conservative strategist Tim Miller called out Fox News on Saturday for purportedly ignoring "a story about a US military veteran getting imprisoned for 3 days by the government."

Miller on Friday published a video conversation with the individual, writing on X, "I interviewed George Retes, the US citizen who ICE detained for 3 days - and threw in solitary for 2 - and his story absolutely shook me."

"It felt more like an episode of homeland than real life," Miller then added. "Truly sick treatment by DHS thugs."

The following day, Miller put Fox News on blast for a lack of coverage of Retes' story.

"Would think Fox News would be interested in a story about a US military veteran getting imprisoned for 3 days by the government but doesn’t seem like it," Miller wrote.

Another X user, Rhys Riddell, raised a similar concern.

"Every major news outlet has stories about Americans detained. Except Fox. If you’re in a right wing echo chamber, do what you can to improve the quality of information coming your way," the user wrote on Saturday.

Fox News host claims God urged her to get closer to Charlie Kirk days before he died

Fox News host Maria Bartiromo insisted that God urged her to get closer to Charlie Kirk in the days before he died.

In a Sunday interview with Bartiromo, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) argued that "the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be spread today to a bigger audience than just about any event in our lifetime" because of Kirk's memorial in Arizona.

"You know, I really do think — I said this last weekend — God wanted me to know Charlie better in the last few months," Bartiromo remarked. "I've been speaking to Charlie more. I went on his show. He came on my show."

"I think his way of communicating and just ensuring that it doesn't get hostile, and you just having a talk and a conversation about the issues and a debate, God wanted me to know more about how Charlie did it," she asserted.

For his part, Cruz claimed that Democrats were full of "anger and hate."

"Today's Democrat Party defines itself by anger and hatred of Donald Trump," he told the Fox News host. "After Charlie was murdered, the number of leftists, whether Democrat politicians or left-wing activists or teachers or professors who celebrated It was grotesque, the celebrations and the glorifications. And I will tell you, this is a problem that is overwhelmingly on the left."

Fox host Brian Kilmeade apologizes for suggesting 'lethal injection' for homeless people

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade expressed regret for calling to kill homeless and mentally ill people.

In a Sunday appearance on Fox News, Kilmeade addressed the remarks he made last week.

"In the morning, we were discussing the murder of Iryna Zarutska and Charlotte, North Carolina. How to stop these kinds of attacks by homeless, mentally ill assailants, including institutionalizing or jailing such people so they cannot attack again," he said.

"Now, during that discussion, I wrongly said they should get lethal injections," he continued. "I apologize for that extremely callous remark."

"I'm obviously aware that not all mentally ill homeless people act as the perpetrator did in North Carolina, and that so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion."

During his remarks last week, Kilmeade said that homeless and mentally ill people should be given a choice.

"Either you take the resources that we're going to give you, or you decide that you gotta be locked up in jail. That's the way it has to be now," he remarked. "Or uh, involuntary lethal injection. Or something."

'Just fire him!' Observers push Fox to drop host who suggested 'killing' homeless people

An offhand comment made by Fox News personality Brian Kilmeade about using “involuntary lethal injection” on mentally ill homeless people set off a wave of outrage on Saturday morning, and led to calls for him to be fired later that same day.

Conservative attorney and anti-Trump activist George Conway responded to Kilmeade's Fox segment, during which Kilmeade suggested that we "just kill them," saying, "I have no words for this."

But former prosecutor Elizabeth de la Vega wasn't at a loss for words. Responding to Conway, she said, "I have a few. Just fire him, @FoxNews. Now. Today."

In a separate post, the analyst wrote, "Let's not even hold back here. Brian Kilmeade should be fired. NOW."

Former presidential speechwriter Jon Lovett said, "I know we’re not easily shocked but I am surprised to see Kilmeade spitball about euthanizing homeless people."

"Other two on the couch don’t even seem fazed," he added. "Any other undesirables you’d add to the list, as long as we’re brainstorming?"

"This is a new low" for Fox News, declared ex-GOP lawmaker Adam Kinzinger in a Saturday video. "What has happened in this country?"

Kinzinger says if Fox News doesn't fire Kilmeade, the news outlet has no right to complain about anything anybody says.

Lauren Windsor wrote, "Fire Brian Kilmeade, @FoxNews!"

On Sunday, Kilmeade apologized for his remarks.

"In the morning, we were discussing the murder of Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte, North Carolina and how to stop these kinds of attacks by homeless, mentally ill assailants, including institutionalizing or jailing such people so they cannot attack again. Now during that discussion, I wrongly said they should get lethal injections. I apologize for that extremely callous remark," he said. "I am obviously aware that not all mentally ill, homeless people act as the perpetrator did in North Carolina and that so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion.”
