Trump cut off mid-ramble as MS NOW's Chris Jansing despairs over claims

MS NOW host Chris Jansing was irritated during a live broadcast on Monday as President Donald Trump spoke to press, cutting him off and initiating a fact-check on the commander-in-chief's comments.

Trump was at a Kennedy Center board meeting with his cabinet and congressional leaders discussing a variety of subjects, including the Iran war, when he started rambling — and Jansing wasn't having it. She cut away from the president and responded to what he said.

"We're going to wait until we hear some questions that are addressed to the president," Jansing said. "But can I have this? Because I just wanted to fact check one thing that the president said, that he had predicted that Osama Bin Laden would hit the World Trade Center. He was referring to a book that was published in January of 2000."

Jansing then read an excerpt from Trump's book.

"One day, we're all assured that Iraq is under control," Jansing read. "UN inspectors have done their work. Everything's fine. Not to worry. The next day the bombing began. One day we're told that shadowy figure with no fixed address named Osama Bin Laden is public enemy number one, and U.S. jet fighters lay waste to his camp in Afghanistan. He escaped back to some rock. And a few news cycles later, it's a new enemy and a new crisis. And then he says that 'dealing with many different countries at once may require many different strategies, but there isn't any excuse for the haphazard nature of our foreign policy. We have to reinvent the wheel for every new conflict.'"

Jansing pushed back and described why Trump's claims were inaccurate.

"So it's a hyperbolic claim that the president just made," she said. "The rest of the statements about the war, I think, are very much familiar to anybody who is following it, that the United States is far ahead, that they've decimated much of what Iran has. And yet he asked for help from NATO allies to get the Strait of Hormuz open. So far, no takers."

'Never seen numbers this bad!' MSNBC host stunned by new Trump ratings

New polling showing Black voter sentiment toward Donald Trump caused MSNBC's Chris Jansing to sit up and take notice Thursday.

Political strategist Cornell Belcher said the polling done by his organization, Brilliant Corners Research & Strategies, shows Donald Trump's job approval and favorability are at an all-time low with the Black community.

"I've been around doing polling for 30 years; I've never seen an official's numbers as bad as they are among Black voters, as Donald Trump's is right now," Belcher said, causing Jansing to interrupt.

"Really? So, you just broke some news here! What's behind it?" Jansing asked.

"What's behind it is a lot of the economic angst, but also, quite frankly, look the racism, right? What Donald Trump has done in the first moves in office is go after DEI, go after affirmative action programs...take Civil Rights leaders' names off of ships, right? If he was as focused on bringing down prices as he is focused on on diversity and equity, and stripping away diversity and equity in our government, we'd have really low, low prices right now. "

Jansing asked if that poll included young Black men, "many of whom voted in higher numbers for Donald Trump because of economic issues?"

"Of course it does," Belcher said, before clarifying, "If you look at the aggregate percentage of Black voters overall who voted for Donald Trump, it's nothing historic."

Belcher added, "I'm less worried about the number of Blacks who voted for Donald Trump and more worried about the horrendous turnout among among younger voters of both Black and Brown that we saw in the last election, and it means death for the Democrats and progressive movement moving forward if we cannot...find a better way to engage and meet these younger voters."

'Bluster and lies': Diplomat shocked by Trump's question time

American diplomat Ned Price, who served as deputy to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, blasted President Donald Trump's "pernicious lies" made at a Thursday Oval Office news conference with Norway's prime minister.

MSNBC anchor Chris Jansen introduced Price by recapping Trump's comments about giving Crimea plus 20 percent of Ukraine over to Russia, but stopping Putin from "taking the whole country."

"Do you hear a deal there that's acceptable?" she asked.

"Let's be clear about what we just heard," Price began. "It was a lot of bluster and a lot of lies. And I'm glad you started where you did, because I think one of the most pernicious lies that we just heard was this idea that President Trump is putting pressure on President Putin."

Price continued, "President Trump is right that he is exerting a strategy of carrots and sticks. The problem is that it's all carrots for Russia, and it's all sticks for Ukraine. And I say that because, going back to the start of this process...you might recall, President Zelensky's visit to that very room, the Oval Office, when he was berated by President Trump, thrown out of the White House, and after that, the administration halted security assistance."

Price claimed that the gap in security and intelligence assistance "had a practical impact on the ground, and it cost Ukrainian lives."

Regarding the peace deal, Price claimed, "The problem is that this would not be a just peace, this would be, again, capitulation; this would be appeasement rather than peace."

Price warned that as it stands, the U.S.-brokered deal "would do nothing but incentivize President Putin, and dictators, and wannabe dictators the world over to attempt to undertake the same type of territorial aggression that has cost Ukraine so much in terms of blood and treasure."

'Freaked out' Trump backed off tariff plan after seeing markets tank: MSNBC analyst

President Donald Trump is less concerned about how the American people are faring from his back-and-forth on tariffs than he is on how the stock market is reacting, according to an MSNBC political analyst.

During a Thursday broadcast that aired shortly after Trump reversed course on Mexico tariffs, anchor Chris Jansing asked, "Is there any consideration at all for the people whose lives, livelihoods, jobs, depend on all of this?"

"That seems to be less a consideration than what the markets are doing," answered analyst Elise Jordan, who worked in the George W. Bush White House. "And you had heard so many of Donald Trump's associates and business leaders say that when the markets start to go down, Donald Trump is going to get freaked out and he's going to reverse course. And we're seeing that happen a bit."

Trump announced on social media Thursday morning that he was pausing tariffs on Mexico for one month "as an accommodation, and out of respect for, President Sheinbaum."

According to The New York Times, "Uncertainty stemming from the Trump administration’s mixed messages on tariffs on the country’s biggest trading partners is weighing on Wall Street," with stock indices continuing to plummet even after Trump's announcement on Mexico.

Jordan claimed Trump's chaotic method of imposing then rescinding tariffs "is just a disgusting exercise in power at the end of the day, to keep everyone around the world on the edge of their seats and living in this uncertainty."

She continued, "It's about more than just, you know, the stock market dropping. It's about people who are living paycheck to paycheck and wondering if they're going to still have a job to pay their rent, and if they're going to have food for their children. And, so, when someone like Donald Trump has ultimate power, we have seen he likes to have this cat and mouse, bait and switch."
