A GOP senator baffled observers Sunday when he made a wild claim during a campaign stop in Nebraska.
Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) traveled to the Cornhusker State to stump for Sen. Pete Ricketts (R-NE). During one part of his speech, Kennedy tried to compare Nebraska and Louisiana cuisine, which led to an admission that several observers had a hard time stomaching.
"I'm here for one reason, other than the fact that I love Nebraska," Kennedy said. "I shouldn't say this, but I love Nebraska better than sex. Not really, but I love Nebraska."
Kennedy's comments sparked a firestorm online.
"C'mon man, you can't look like my grandma and talk like this," Kyle Kulinski, a host of the left-leaning "The Kyle Kulinski Show," posted on X.
"Hard to see why Republicans are losing everywhere with this kind of messaging," Mike Nellis, a Democratic political strategist, posted on X.
"They aren't sending their best," Nate Blouin, a Democratic state senator in Utah, posted on X.
"When you are campaigning in red states late in 2026," journalist Jamie Dupree posted on X.
