President Donald Trump took to social media Monday to once again declare that Iran was “completely collapsing” following reports that Iranian state television broadcast a video targeting the president’s youngest son with a $10 million bounty.
“IRAN IS COMPLETELY COLLAPSING!!!” Trump wrote, unprompted, on his social media platform Truth Social.
According to The Jerusalem Post, the Iranian state-affiliated TV Channel 3 released a video recently highlighting personal details of Barron Trump, including his security detail, his online video game accounts and his classmates. The Jerusalem Post notes, however, that it was unable to “locate the original video on Channel 3’s platform,” and instead relied on an apparent re-upload by London-based journalist Niyak Ghorbani.
According to Euronews, the video was titled: “Where and how should we kill Barron Trump?" It also includes claims that a $10 million bounty had been placed on Barron Trump.
“The video was styled similarly to a previous video put out by the regime threatening US First Lady Melania Trump last month,” reads The Jerusalem Post’s report, published on Monday.
“That video called on ‘Freedom fighters’ to target the shops the first lady frequents. It claimed to share ‘information from several anonymous security networks,’ showing schemes of how Melania's security operates and the places that she usually goes in New York.”
The supposed video targeting the first lady concludes with a tease that Barron Trump would be the next target, per The Jerusalem Post: “This is just the beginning! Barron Trump, wait for us!”
Trump has frequently claimed that Iran was nearing collapse amid his deeply unpopular war against the Middle East nation, and even before.
In January, Trump claimed Iran could be on the verge of collapsing, and just over a week after launching the war, said Iran was “likely” to “completely collapse.” He said Iran was “collapsing financially” on April 21, that Iran was in a “state of collapse” on April 28, and that their “economy is collapsing” on April 30.
