A former ACORN employee in San Diego who lost his job after being filmed giving advice to "ACORN pimp" James O'Keefe is suing the amateur videographer and his partner, Hannah Giles, San Diego CityBeat's Dave Maass reported Friday.

The pains of being "fair and balanced"

Salon has put together a list of the 11 most bogus media stories of 2009. A few of them, such as the balloon boy hoax or Lady Gaga's non-existent penis, are just those silly stories that capture the public imagination from time to time. I don't actually mind those stories---except in the case where the coverage gets so intense it starts to seem like a human rights abuse of its targets, such as the Tiger Woods story (which didn't make the top 11!)---because you often learn something about your fellow Americans by which stories fascinate them. Then there are a couple of others, such as the phony Abu Gharib story and the overblown role Twitter was given in the Iranian protests, that I can chalk up to a weird confluence of events. The New Conservative PC: Everything

The conservative attacks on the excesses of political correctness are not wholly without merit. Your average wingnut had never even heard of ACORN before we had a black candidate for President. And "ACORN" is being used as a battle cry now because of the racist implications that have been attached to that word. But, as Media Matters reports, ACORN isn't actually mentioned in the bill.

The Right's ACORN head fake unleashes more evil

Jesse covered some of the ACORN ground, but I had to post on this nonsense. John McCain said this in the last presidential debate:

The Nut Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree

imageBelow the fold, I'm posting slightly truncated versions of a recruitment e-mail for the McCain campaign. They'd like law students to serve as voter challengers (presumably with the help of security officers and veterans, although that may just be a Milwaukee thing), and are throwing out the prospect of hordes of fake voter registrations somehow arising from their filing cabinets and data streams and rampaging down to the local precinct location and politely standing in line until the register their second, third and fourth votes for Dangerous Terrorist Barack Obama.

Close Enough To Honest

CNN lies about ACORN 54 times which is certainly better than, say, a billion.
