  • Steele lures blacks to GOP with ‘fried chicken and potato salad’

    An Indiana Republican blog got Michael Steele to answer questions from bloggers. MileHive’s Cameron Cowan asked the RNC Chairman for his plan to attract minorities to the Party. “My plan is to say ‘Y’all come,’” said Steele. “I’ve got the fried chicken and potato salad,” he added.

      Though I get why this story was posted, the headline and its insinuation is slighly misleading. Steele’s understanding of GOP history is grossly misinformed as far as inclusion of minorities goes, and I would be the last to defend him, but at no time did he refer to “Blacks” or connect them to “fried chicken.” The only thing that could be said of the encounter is that the man probably remembers having those foods at gatherings. Other than that he’s the chairman of a party currently using fear of the current administration for recruiting purposes. Best to save the breast-beating for something that matters.

      All Democrats have to do to defeat Republicans is let them talk. Michael Steele, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Mark Sanford and Michelle Bachmann need so badly to hear themselves talk that they genuinely have no idea how insane they sound or how much they alienate thinking human beings.

      He got it wrong. It’s not potato salad, it’s WATERMELONS.

      Also, typical GOP behavior. Showing their stupidity for all to see.

      On a related note, Palin 2012! Can’t wait for 4 more years of Obama.
