London- Britain's Price Harry will not, after all, be sent
to Iraq as planned, following a decision by top commanders, the BBC
reported Wednesday.
It said the young lieutenant, third in line to the throne, was
"very disappointed" at being deprived of the opportunity of active
service.

The deployment of the prince had already reportedly been delayed
in order to give the army time to assess the security situation in
the southern provinces where he would have undertaken reconnaissance
duties.

The deployment of soldiers from the Blues and Royals regiment, to
which the 22-year-old prince belongs, had already begun.

Harry, a tank commander, was to have been sent out on a six-month
tour "as late as possible" in order for the "dangers to be assessed,"
and to give his fellow-soldiers a chance to gain combat experience
before his arrival, earlier media reports had said.
