Kingston, Jamaica- Jamaican police have described the death
of Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer as "suspicious" after post-
mortem tests proved inclusive.
"Having met with the pathologist, other medical personnel and
investigators there is now sufficient information to continue a full
investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr
Woolmer, which we are now treating as suspicious," said deputy
commissioner Mark Shields in a statement Tuesday.

"We have already informed the Woolmer family of this development
and we are also in close contact with the Pakistan team management,
Cricket World Cup and ICC (International Cricket Council) to ensure
all parties are kept informed of the ongoing investigation."

The 59-year-old coach was found unconscious in his Kingston hotel
Sunday morning amid signs of vomiting and pronounced dead in
hospital.

Woolmer's death came less than 24 hours after his side suffered a
humiliating defeat to Ireland that resulted in Pakistan being
eliminated from the World Cup. Pakistan had already lost their
opening game against the West Indies.

Pakistan's early exit from the tournament caused uproar in the
cricket-mad country where angry fans burned effigies of the players
and called for the government to impose penalties on them.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Nasim Ashraf has since
resigned while team captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has announced that he will
retire from one-day cricket after Pakistan's final World Cup match
against Zimbabwe later Wednesday.
