Indian President Kalam to address European Parliament

New Delhi- Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam plans to
address the European Parliament next month in Strasbourg, the
parliamentary seat of Europe, a news report said Wednesday.
Kalam is due to deliver the address on April 25, the first time
the parliament has invited an Indian president, the Hindu daily
reported citing sources in the presidential office.

Kalam's address would coincide with the ongoing 50th anniversary
celebrations of the EU and his visit to Strasbourg would be combined
with a two-day trip to Greece, the report said.

India-EU relations go back to the early 1960s. Both sides
consolidated their ties by launching a strategic partnership in 2004
and later agreed on an joint action plan that covers cooperation in
economic, political and cultural fields.
