Basketball players Michael Fraser and Kevin Nelson have each received a seven-month ban for doping, the Austrian basketball federation (OeBL) confirmed on Thursday.
Canada's Fraser, 24, who plays for Austrian league side Fuerstenfeld Panthers, and 23-year-old American Nelson, who plays for Kapfenberg Bulls, tested positive for a banned substance after a league semi-final on May 8.
"The OeBL has made it clear with this penalty that offences against the doping regulations in the highest leagues will be punished," the OeBL said in a statement.
"League players are role models for many youngsters who play this sport and must acknowledge this responsibility: doping, in whatever form, has no place in our sport."
Besides the seven-month ban, the two players will also have to repay the costs of the doping test.
