President Robert Mugabe's regime is a disgrace to the people of Zimbabwe, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Sunday after the African state went to the polls amid accusations of fraud.
"The Mugabe regime is a disgrace to the people of Zimbabwe and a disgrace to southern Africa and to the continent of Africa as a whole," Rice told reporters in Jerusalem.
"We have made very clear our concerns about how these elections might be conducted given the very bad record of Mugabe," she said.
Zimbabwe's main opposition party claimed victory in Saturday's election even before the first results were announced and after accusing Mugabe of trying to cheat his way to a sixth term in office.
