Minnesota center fielder Carlos Gomez has become the first Major Leaguer to hit for the cycle this season as the Twins beat the Chicago White Sox 13-1.
Gomez, 22, reached first on a ground ball to shortstop for an infield single in the top of the ninth inning to complete the feat on Wednesday.
He had led off the game with a home run to left field, had an RBI triple in the fifth and added a run-scoring double in the sixth.
Gomez became the first Twin to hit for the cycle - notching a single, double triple and home run in one game - since late Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett did so on August 1, 1986.
Gomez, who was acquired in the deal that sent two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana to the New York Mets during the offseason, became the eighth player in Twins history to accomplish the feat.
