Belarus is ready to "play its role" as a Russian ally if the United States defies Moscow's objections and goes ahead with deployment of a missile defence shield in central Europe, President Alexander Lukashenko said Friday.
"Belarus is ready to play its role on the question of the proposed deployment in Europe of elements of the anti-missile defence system," he said at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin in the Belarussian capital Minsk.
