A two-dimensional Austrian mutt and two real Thai canines shared the Palm Dog prize in Cannes, the organiser of the jokey honour given ahead of the real Palme d'Or award said.

Yuki, a cartoon dog from "Persepolis", a French-Iranian animation in competition for the Palme d'Or, was named co-winner of the hounds-only trophy, in fact a black collar with "Palm Dog" stitched into it.

Keng and Peak, two real dog actors seen in an out-of-competition Thai film called "Mid Road Gang", will have the honour of wearing the accessory, which they picked up alongside Yuki.

The directors of the films collected the Palm Dog awards on behalf of the four-legged laureates, Palm Dog organiser and British journalist Toby Rose told AFP.

Last year, he gave the prize to Mops, a doll-sized dog that featured in Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette".
