Satire: Pundits defend throwing money into America's giant 'money hole'

With government bailouts to bad businesses expected to cost trillions, pundits in a recent Onion News Network segment take on the notion that America should stop throwing money into its treasured "National Money Hole."

"That kind of talk is alarmist and irresponsible," said ONN pundit David Barrodale. "Driving truckloads of money out into the New Mexico desert and dumping it into a massive pit is one of America's greatest traditions."

"No reasonable person is advocating that we are going to stop destroying money," added Wall Street Journal columnist Leslie Hillerman. "But the American people earned that money. They have the right to decide how it should be destroyed."
