Saturday Night Live's political satire wasn't exactly subtle: RNC Chairman Michael Steele doesn't just kowtow to Rush Limbaugh, according to the comedy show; he is actually electrocuted by the radio talk show host for speaking his own mind.

Steele, played by SNL's Kenan Thompson, stopped by the show's "Weekend Update" March 7th to respond to calls for his resignation by Republican Party officials.

"What's gonna bring people back to the Republican party is an off-the-hook marketing campaign," Thompson's Steele said. "Holla!"

A loud electric shock sound followed, which Steele explained was due to the electrode "the Limbaugh people" put in his head.

"I mean the Republican Party has been controlled by older white people for the past 100 years," Steele explained, triggering another loud buzz. At which point he said: "And there's nothing wrong with that, right?"

Although completely different in style, the SNL bit's substance was largely the same as White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel's message one week ago on Meet the Press.

"Whenever a Republican criticizes [Limbaugh]," Emanuel said March 1st, "they have to run back and apologize to him and say they were misunderstood. He is the voice and the intellectual force and the energy behind the Republican Party."

According to SNL, Limbaugh wields his energy powerfully – and with painful results.
