| | Report: Clinton's 'people' nixed curvy comic book cover
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's "people" allegedly got a comic book artist to spike his unflattering cover, according to a report in a Capitol Hill paper.
"Clinton is one of the stars of 'Female Force,' a new biographical comic book series that studies America’s most famous political women," Emily Heil and Elizabeth Brotherton write for Roll Call's Heard on the Hill. "But when comic creators Bluewater Productions offered a sneak peak of Clinton’s cover art a few months back, Madame Secretary apparently wasn’t pleased with the depiction.."
The gossip column continues, "Bluewater Publisher Darren Davis told HOH that the company 'heard through her people' that Clinton disliked the cover, which had her sporting a blue suit whose buttons were straining over a chunky hourglass figure. Think more Lara Croft and less America’s top diplomat."
“We also had Hillary Clinton fans up in arms about it,” Davis told Roll Call. “So we wanted to make sure it was done 100 percent out of respect.”
Heil and Brotherton add, "Bluewater asked artist Vinnie Tartamella to create a new, less-sexy cover. Tartamella also placed Clinton in a blue pantsuit — but in the second version, Clinton looks thinner, with an open jacket and a strand of pearls tastefully draped around her neck."
This isn't the first time the comic book's cover has changed.
A Publisher's Weekly blog published the two prior covers last fall:

The bottom image was reportedly retouched due to one too many stripes on the American flag.
“It was my fault, and I take full responsibility for releasing the incorrect version of the cover,” Bluewater president Darren G. Davis said in a press release then. “We meant no disrespect to veterans who bravely served our country, Senator Clinton, or to any other American who was offended by the incorrect portrayal of our most cherished American symbol.”
