| | RNC video smears Obama with Blagojevich scandal
The Republican National Committee released a YouTube video that suggests President-elect Barack Obama had a greater role in the pay-to-play scandal surrounding Ill. Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
Soon after the controversy surrounding Blagojevich's attempt to sell Obama's senate seat, questions arose about the exact nature of Obama's relationship with the governor.
Obama has already asked for the governor to step down, but the RNC video suggests his transition team, especially Rahm Emanuel, has kept information from the press.
"Mr. Emanuel was among the few people in Obama's circle who occasionally spoke to Mr. Blagojevich. He declined to answer questions on Wednesday," according to a quote from the New York Times.
The video included audio from pundits attacking Obama's position.
"Worse than that, comments today were so vague and general that you could easily misdrew them as not being credible, when he said he wasn't aware of what was going on," said Richard Wolffe for MSNBC's Countdown on Wednesday.
Tying together Obama's past history with Blagojevich, the RNC paints a picture of corruption that includes Obama as a possible culprit.
"Obama gained his first high-level experience in a state-wide campaign when he advised the gubernatorial candidate Rod Blagojevich," according to a New Yorker quote in the video.
This video is from CNN.com, broadcast Dec. 12, 2008.
