| | Obama will nominate Clinton to State on Monday: Officials
Democratic party officials have said that President-elect Barack Obama will nominate Sen. Hillary Clinton as secretary of state on Monday.
Members of Obama's transition team broke the news to the Associated Press late Saturday on condition of anonymity. The announcement will be made during an Obama press conference in Chicago.
The senator's husband, President Bill Clinton, has made unprecedented disclosures to the Obama team in order to avoid conflicts of interest in his wife's nomination. President Clinton, in addition to identifying all donors to the Clinton Foundation, will cease accepting contributions from foreign diplomats and governments.
Sen. Clinton is said to have passed up the Senate appropriations chair to serve as Obama's secretary of state.
