| | Dead bear with Obama/Biden sign deposited on college campus
A black bear cub was shot in the head and the corpse laid on the campus of Western Carolina University with an Obama/Biden sign placed on it, WLOS reported. It was discovered early Monday morning and quickly removed.
"I just can't believe people would go to such an extent to state their political beliefs," said Bethany Rowe, a junior at WCU. "A sick individual who thinks...extremely badly about Obama," added Freshman Daniel Ford.
"I think it sends a pretty disturbing message," said political science professor Chris Cooper. "Obviously it sounds like it may have some racial implications, and at the very least it's somebody sending the wrong message and taking this sort of hot political season the wrong way."
"Our initial reaction is that it's obviously somebody who wants to draw attention to something," said campus police chief Tom Johnson. "If we're successful in identifying a suspect, then we'll make sure they get the attention they're trying to draw to themselves."
