| | Obama, Gore to meet in Chicago
President-elect Barack Obama will meet in Chicago tomorrow with former Vice President Al Gore "to discuss energy and climate change and how policies in this area can stimulate the economy and create jobs," the transition team said in an e-mail Monday.
The meeting will be the first between the two since Obama's election. Gore, who has become a leading advocate for dramatic overhaul of US environmental and energy policy. There had been some speculation during the presidential campaign that Obama may move to tap Gore to fill a powerful new "climate czar" post within his administration, but the former vice president reportedly is not interested in such a position.
As recently as last Friday, a Gore spokeswoman reiterated his lack of interest in a position within the Obama administration.
The two men speak regularly about environmental and energy policy, but word of Tuesday's meeting has reignited some speculation that Gore may yet have a place within the Obama White House.
The Obama transition team is expected to release more details on the meeting later Monday.
