Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-MO) told the Ed Schultz show live on air today that the presidential race will be over by May 20th.

Blumenauer, an Obama supporter, cited Obama's meeting on Capitol Hill with members of the House today.

Audio of the claim is available here.

He bet the liberal radio host dinner that the race would be over by the 20th, which is 12 days away.

On his website, Blumenauer has bemoaned Sen. Hillary Clinton's (D-NY) gas tax holiday plan, which he says would benefit oil companies more than consumers.

"There has been a lot of talk about a “Gas Tax Holiday,” but this three-month hiatus would only save the average Oregon driver $28 – while costing Oregon up to 2,881 family wage jobs and $83 million in federal gas tax revenues," Blumenauer said. "Telling Americans that this trade-off is a ‘holiday’ is pandering at its worst and obscures the fact that the real beneficiaries of this proposal would be the oil companies. We don’t need another political gimmick, we need a comprehensive policy to deal with rising energy costs. We need to address the high price of oil not with a quick fix, but with a long term strategy for investing in America, addressing rising oil prices and boosting our sagging economy."
