Tony Snow learns growth is cancerous, has likely spread to liver

White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, a cancer survivor who announced last Friday he would undergo surgery to remove an abdominal growth, has learned that the growth is cancerous and has likely spread to his liver, CNN is reporting.

Fox News says that interim White House spokesperson Dana Perino revealed Snow's situation in the morning press conference and said doctors will be going after it as aggressively is possible. Snow is sorry that people heard it from the press and not from him, Perino said.

Snow, 51, who survived a bout with colon cancer in 2005, had surgery Monday to remove a growth in his abdomen.

"I've just spoken to him but unfortunately the growth was cancerous, there has been some metastasis," Perino said.

"He spoke with the president this morning. He is in consultations with his doctors on chemotherapy treatments," she said, adding that Snow vowed to "beat it again
