Feingold: US troops are going to die in situation that doesn't make sense anymore
Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) said during an interview today on CNN's American Morning that he has not reconsidered his push for a military withdrawal from Iraq following a meeting with Gen. Petraeus.
During the interview, Feingold stressed that the withdrawal was not a result of military success or failure. "We're looking at this as a military matter, and everybody admits it's no longer a military solution." He continued, "American troops are going to die in a situation that, in my view, doesn't make sense anymore."
Feingold also disputed the notion that he supported defunding active troops in the field. "That just isn't the case," said Feingold. "What we're talking about here is saying that when the mission ends, the funding ends."
