Billionaire family of Saudi Prince Bandar seeks to sell America's most expensive house
"At $135 million, Hala, just northwest of downtown Aspen, is the most expensive single-family residential property in the nation on the market," the estate built in 1991 for the family of Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the former ambassador to the United States and its sole rare occupant, the New York Times reports Monday.
At 56,000 square feet, Hala enjoys 95 acres of land and offers a splendid vista of the Aspen valley and mountains beyond.
Joshua Saslove, the Sultan's real estate agent, told the Times he's received about 1,000 requests to tour the home. Just eleven of these requests have been granted -- which are vetted by both Saslove and attorneys for the prince.
Writes Times reporter Kirk Johnson: "Even the ordinary rich can no longer press their noses to the glass."
