Levin: Bush 'vetoed the will of American people'
Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), the chairman of the Senate's Armed Services Committee, criticized the President's veto of the Iraq War supplemental budget legislation last night.
"What he did was veto the will of the American people last November," Levin said. "He also vetoed, in effect, the pressure the Congress is putting on those Iraqi leaders to take responsibility for their own country."
As Roberts presented a set of arguments in favor of continuing the war in Iraq, Levin provided responses. For instance, Levin responded to the idea that Al Qaida would be more powerful in Iraq if the US withdrew.
"Now that they're there, the resolution which we adopted that President Bush just vetoed yesterday provided that we would keep a limited number of troops in Iraq for that purpose, to get Al Qaida out of Iraq," he argued.
