The morning news team that first brought you "Barack Obama attended a Muslim madarassah" has another axe to grind with the Democratic presidential candidate: his establishment of a "truth squad."

A Wednesday morning segment of "Fox and Friends" on the Fox News Channel took Senator Obama and his campaign to task for announcing that they would aggressively counter statements they considered inaccurate from Senator Hillary Clinton, her husband the former president, and their surrogates. Morning co-host Gretchen Carlson suggested that a political candidate seeking "truth" might find him or herself in jeopardy.

"It's a little dicey that you're going to set up a truth squad when you're in politics. Don't you think so?" Carlson asked her co-hosts. "You're always going to be able to find something on your side of the fence as well."

The clip, and ensuing discussion, can be read below.

This video is from Fox's Fox & Friends, broadcast January 23, 2008.

:: Steve: Send out your truth squad, and they'd say that was obviously photoshoped. Remember a couple of nights ago barack obama said hillary clinton and her husband had been distorting the facts, essentially lying about his record. Yesterday it was announced that obama himself had launched a truth squad and down in south carolina they've got a toll free number if you suspect any dirty tricks from hill and bill, call it.

:: Gretchen: Tom daschle is actually behind this. Has he come out to endorse barack obama? I find this interesting. It's a little dicey that you're going to set up a truth squad when you're in politics. Don't you think so? you're always going to be able to find something on your side of the fence as well. A lot of people did a lot of analysis after if debate, and they found out that both of them told lies and both of them told the truth. So it's dangerous to set up a truth squad especially on capitol hill.

:: Brian: Senator daschle for them to turn to the clintons, forming a truth squad against the clintons and coming out and saying we don't think he's acting very presidential with all these distortions, and we also say that we think that this clyburn as well as tom daschle say that they really should cool it down for the good of the party, jesse jackson says I don't like what i'm hearing from the clinton camp, i'm hearing code words like too young, inexperience, and charismatic, and he doesn't like the term that was used by hillary clinton, extraordinarily young african-american man. They think that that --

:: Gretchen: What's wrong with that?

:: Brian: According to that --

:: Gretchen: He is young and african-american.

:: Brian: Why isn't she a wonderful white woman?

:: Gretchen: I think she's taking knocks for being a woman. This whole thing comes down to the fact that feel who are supporting one or the other candidate, they're upset because one of fair candidates isn't doing as well as they were last week.

:: Brian: A lot of these people are concerned for the party because at some point they're going to have to come together.

:: Gretchen: This benefits the republicans. All that fighting benefits the republicans. That's why they're coming together, but to my point, yesterday, I don't know if bill and hillary clinton really care about united the democratic party.

:: Brian: Their win at all costs attitude is hurting the party, but helping her.

Steve: By the way, she, hillary rodham clinton, yesterday said as she recapped the debate the night before, she said I think barack obama is just a little frustrated. He came loaded for bear, he wanted to pick a fight, he did it, and I simply responded. That's her side.
