CNN anchors lose it over Romney 'dog on roof' joke
It was all laughs Monday morning, as CNN continued to hype its upcoming "YouTube" debate, where candidates will answer questions uploaded onto the popular video website. Anchor John Roberts then introduced a segment on how "viral videos" are changing the nature of campaigning.
After running through several clips of candidates either clicking or bombing with an audience at campaign events, followed by a bit from the wildly popular "Obama-girl" video and one clip of a man sitting in his bathroom singing about how Joe Biden "ain't the sharpest tool in the shed," the segment ran a country music-style clip purporting to be from Mitt Romney's family dog, Seamus, recounting his now infamous ordeal of being put in a crate on top of a station wagon for a twelve hour drive.
Romney has tried to deflect criticism of this treatment of the family pet by claiming Seamus loved being on the top of the car and often tried to climb up there by himself. As the segment ended, Roberts and his co-anchor proceeded to crack up with laughter as they tried to explain the story of how the dog lost control of its bowels on top of the car. "That's going to be the zen moment," commented Roberts when he managed to stop laughing. "Daily Show's going to love that one."
