35 hurt in panic as earthquake strikes Turkey

Istanbul- Thirty-five people were injured early Friday as
they panicked when a moderate earthquake struck south-eastern Turkey.
People were hurt as they ran out into the streets and jumped from
windows and balconies when the magnitude-5.3 quake hit, NTV
television reported, citing government officials.
No deaths were reported in the quake that hit at 4:22 a.m. (0222
GMT) and was centred on the province of Elazig near the town of
Sivrice, but numerous houses suffered cracks and a school roof was
damaged.
