Bogota- A methane-gas explosion in two adjoining coal mines
in north-eastern Colombia left at least 32 miners dead, according to
authorities Sunday.
Three severely burned workers were found dead, and a fourth was
hospitalized but soon died of his injuries. Rescue workers later
located 28 more bodies at a depth of 400 metres below ground but were
unable to immediately recover the remains due to high gas
concentrations, the newspaper El Tiempo reported Sunday.
