Kampala- Eighteen people were killed Friday when a small
bus and a truck collided head-on on a highway in eastern Uganda,
police said.
It happened in Namayamba village in Bugiri district, about 140
kilometres from Kampala. All 18 people in the bus died, police said,
adding that it appeared the truck driver lost control. He and the
turn-boy of the truck survived with injuries.
Accidents on Ugandan roads claim scores of lives every year, with
bad roads, over-speeding and under-policing seen as main causes.
