Mogadishu/Nairobi- At least 20 people have been killed and 40 injured in clashes over access to water in Somalia's drought- stricken north, witnesses said Sunday. Camel herdsmen from rival tribes sent for armed reinforcements when a fight broke out over water access in the Galgadud region.

Both sides have been fighting for years over grazing rights for their herds.

Elders and representatives of the Islamic courts had been reportedly trying to find a solution to the conflict.
