Madrid- Spanish police have detained a sixth person
suspected of involvement in the 2004 Madrid train bombings, press
reports said Friday.
Taha Seghrouchni was captured in the northern city of Lleida on
Thursday following the arrests of five others in several regions.

The five were thought to have helped two Moroccan suspects flee
after the bombings that killed 191 and injured more than 1,500
people on March 11, 2004.

They also allegedly maintained contacts with another runaway
suspect, Algerian Daoud Ouhnane, who is believed to be currently in
Iraq.

Seghrouchni was suspected of helping to finance the bombings by
transferring money into Ouhnane's bank account and of exchanging
phone calls with him.

Twenty-nine people face trial for the Madrid bombings early this
year.
