Hanoi- Six people were killed and four others seriously injured when a speeding bus fell off a bridge in central Vietnam and plunged onto rocks 11 metres below, local traffic police said Saturday. The 24-seat bus was travelling between cities in Quang Tri province, 580 km south of Hanoi, on Friday afternoon when the driver lost control and the bus broke through guard rails on Xom Ro Bridge.

"The bus might have been travelling too fast," said Phan Thanh Canh, an official from the provincial Traffic Police Department.

"It fell upside down and the victims were trapped inside," Canh said. "It took us a long time to get the victims out of the bus."

Five people were killed immediately and one died a few hours after being taken to the hospital. All the injured victims remain in critical condition.
