Baghdad- The remains of ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein were returned late Saturday to his home town of Tikrit, hours after he was hanged for crimes committed by Saddam's regime. After the early Saturday hanging, ordered by an Iraqi court after his conviction for ordering a massacre in the Shiite town of Dujail, Saddam's remains were returned to Tikrit by US forces, British broadcaster BBC reported.

Saddam's burial was expected to take place Sunday in his native village in the Tikrit area, the Arab-language broadcaster al-Arabiya reported.
