Rafsanjani's landslide confirmed in Iran assembly elections

Tehran- The interior ministry on Monday confirmed the
landslide victory of former president Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani in the
Experts' Assembly elections.
According to the final results, carried by all local news
agencies, Rafsanjani gained twice as many votes as Ayatollah
Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah-Yazdi, candidate of President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad's faction.

Rafsanjani has already issued a statement and thanked the people
for having enabled him the landslide victory which he termed as a
victory for democracy.
