Miss Britain dethroned over affair with beauty contest judge

London- The current Miss Great Britain, a 22-year-old beautician from Liverpool, has been stripped of her title after admitting that she dated one of the judges before winning, it was reported Friday. Danielle Lloyd will no longer hold the crown, awarded in February 2006, after she revealed the relationship with footballer Teddy Sheringham in a magazine interview.

She is understood to have told the magazine that the soccer star bought her a pair of designer shoes for 7,000 pounds (13,300 dollars) last Christmas.

It was previously believed the couple got together only after Lloyd won the title.

"We are very sad that this action has been necessary and we wish her the best for the future," a statement on the Miss Great Britain website said.

Lloyd's hopes to become Miss World were dashed in 2004 when she lost out to Miss Peru at the contest held in China.
