Malaysian man shot by would-be monkey hunter

Kuala Lumpur- A Malaysian man was slain when his elderly neighbour tried to shoot a monkey, reports said Wednesday. Karim Othman, 41, was climbing up a tree in his backyard when his 76-year-old neighbour shot him, the official Bernama news agency said.

Karim was hit in the stomach by shotgun pellets and immediately fell to the ground.

The neighbour claimed that he had been trying to shoot a monkey that had been creating a mess in the neighbourhood, and did not know the victim was in the same tree as the animal.

Karim was immediately sent to a nearby clinic but died from the gunshot wounds.
