Amsterdam- Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito, Princess Masako
and their daughter Princess Aiko have arrived in the Netherlands on a
two-week visit at the invitation of Queen Beatrix, national public
radio reported Thursday evening.
Earlier in the day, Japanese media began converging on the eastern
Dutch city of Apeldoorn for the arrival of the royals, who will stay
at Het Oude Loo hunting lodge.
A photo opportunity, scheduled for Friday, with the Japanese
royals is to be attended by Beatrix, Dutch Crown Prince Willem-
Alexander, his Argentine-born wife, Maxima, and their two daughters.
The palace reported that interest in the photo opportunity from
Japan had been overwhelming.
The Japanese royals are expected to stay out of the public eye
during their visit, which ends August 31. Het Oude Loo is not visible
from outside the estate, and the royal party will be able to come and
go as they please without detection by the media.
According to Japanese reports, Princess Masako is suffering from
stress and is accompanied by a specialist physician.
