Beirut(dpa) - Israeli troops still man at least nine areas along the border inside southern Lebanon, a week after the end of hostilities with Hezbollah, Lebanese security sources said Monday. Some 200 Israeli troops, backed by armoured vehicles, were seen at nine positions along the border, the sources said.

On a hilltop overlooking the coastal town of Naqura, troops and military vehicles were deployed in an area between the village of Alma al-Shaab and neighbouring Marwaheen, they said.

To the east, more troops and military vehicles were seen on Khazanat hilltop, between the villages of al-Qawzah and Beit Lif.

They are also visible in the villages of Rmaish and near Aita ash-Shaab.

Israeli troops also occupied a villa in the village of Marun Al- Ras which overlooks the town of Bint Jbeil and the village of Yarun.

According to the sources, Israeli helicopters deliver daily food and water supplies to the troops.

Israeli troops and vehicles took up position on a hilltop east of the village of Aitroun while more troops were present in olive groves near Mais Al-Jabal.

Troops and armoured vehicles were also deployed in the region of Taibe to the east, the sources said.
