Singapore- An Indian national working in Singapore has been charged with wrongfully restraining a Vietnamese woman who died after falling from a fourth-floor flat, media reports said on Thursday. Rohit Kumar, a 24-year-old IT executive, was said to have locked the main door of the four-room flat to prevent Dihn Thanh Tuyen from leaving on Monday, The Straits Times said.

The woman, in her early 20s, was found severely injured at the foot of the block and died in a hospital hours later.

The judge scheduled Wednesday for Rohit's next court appearance.

Police said they are continuing their investigation.

If convicted, Rohit faces a jail term of up to one year or a 1,000-Singapore-dollar (645-US-dollars) fine, or both.
