Sana'a- An armed man hurled a hand grenade at a residential neighbourhood in the Yemeni capital Sana'a on Saturday injuring six people, witnesses said. The witnesses told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa the man apparently tried to toss the grenade into a house but that it missed hitting four pedestrians and two men on a passing motorcycle.
The injured, one of them in critical condition, were rushed to hospital.
Police initiated a manhunt for the attacker who fled by car immediately after throwing the grenade. They said his motives were not clear yet.
Yemen is awash with weapons. Unofficial estimates show that there are an estimated 60 million firearms, or three for each citizen in the country.
