Montauben, France- The French car maker Citroen is extending its van range with the seven-seater C4 Picasso, filling the gap between the Xsara Picasso and the C8. The van, available at European dealers from the end of October, will also come in a five-seater version with a modified design next year, the car maker announced.

However, the five-seater entry model, the Xsara Picasso, will remain on the market at least until the year 2010.

At the end of this year Citroen will also release the new Jumpy, a small transporter van built in cooperation with Peugeot but that will also be built in a station wagon version for passenger transport.

The C4 Picasso will be sold at prices between 20,800 and 29,400 euros (26,465 to 37,407 dollars) and will be available in two petrol and two diesel engine versions. The power output is between 80 kW/109 hp and 103 kW/140 hp.

All the C4 Picasso models come standard with seven adjustable and foldable seats. Depending on the seat configuration the load volume is between 208 and 1,951 litres. Other standard items are ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), seven airbags, speed control and electronic parking assistant.
