Manila- An American tourist has been detained by the Philippine immigration bureau after he was caught using illegal drugs, an official said Friday. Immigration Commissioner Roy Almoro said Kent Thomas Kuzsajewska, 40, was turned over to the bureau by the police after the suspect was charged before a local court.
Almoro said Kuzsajewska was being detained by the immigration bureau as an undesirable alien for his involvement in an illegal activity while in the country.
"We cannot deport him yet as he still has to answer the criminal charges filed against him by the police," he said.
Kuzsajewska was arrested on September 29 with two Filipino companions while sniffing methamphetamine hydrochloride, or ice, inside a house in downtown Manila.
Police seized from the suspects three plastic sachets of ice, an improvised tooter and other paraphernalia used in drug sessions.
