Former conservative power lobbyist Jack Abramoff is expected to plead guilty to corruption and tax fraud charges relating to his involvement in a Florida riverboat casino deal and will cooperate with prosecutors in Washington.
He will plead guilty in Washington district court at 12:15pm, RAW STORY has learned. U.S. District Judge Paul C. Huck has also scheduled a telephone conference for later Tuesday, AP reports.
An earlier report that a news conference would be held by Abramoff's attorney was in error.

Writes Bloomberg News: "To get a reduced prison sentence, Abramoff would have to implicate lawmakers in the probe of his lobbying activities, said Melanie Sloan, a former federal prosecutor and head of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.
"I believe he has to be giving up members of Congress," Sloan told Bloomberg. "Otherwise, Abramoff is as high as you go."
