Obviously, it is important to protect our over class at all costs, as long as the costs are born by the lower classes. It's good to see how quickly the system rallies toward their cause!

a bit sleep deprived lately. I am not shocked to see the government jumping out of their ass to bailout rich investors that were so greedy that they invested in a product that they knew was too good to be true. Buyer be ware. They don't want to accept any of the blame for thir actions. If it were you ar I we would be told we should have known better and there is no recourse. Somehow, I suspect the tax payers will be funding this too. We would never know since the TARP distribution and the other two trilion dollars of wellfare are dolled out secretly. I suspect they will only get a part of their money back, but if I were one of them, I would be counting my blessings.a bit sleep deprived lately. I suspect they will only get a part of their money back, but if I were one of them, I would be counting my blessings. It also appears they will get some of the tax money they paid on fake earnings back. This is much like the rich speculators and greedy high stake gamblers in the investment banking community getting bailed our on the backs of the poor hard working middleclass. It is insane and is bizzaroland as you said. The entire economic failure is centered around the stress on the middle class and they have seen no help form the government so it is no big surprise that the economy has not begun to recover. Too many Americans think their job is safe and they should be saving every extra dollar they can because the job cuts will continue to spiral up-wards. If Obama can turn this around, he will become one of the greatest presidents in the history of the US. I still have some hope but he has mission impossible. I am sending shoes to the White House. I am trying to get a worldwide effort going since I see little chance of the Bush criminals being held accountable. I e-mailed friends in Germany and in Asia to spread the word. Everyone try to have a great day.

Question:
How can this be covered by the SIPC? From what I have heard and read, this swindle was done by a shadow company that was not registered. It appears to me that this would be the same as asking the government for funds to cover losing money betting with the neighborhood bookie.

One investor had 3 billion they get their $500,000 bye bye next investor up to the pay out window. If there is 200 – 300 million left in the Ponzi scheme and just two investors had over 10% stake that’s $1,000,000 pay out next there maybe enough money to cover 70% of the investors left in the accounts at a $500,000 pay out.

Why not help EVERY American who has been scammed or swindled like on ebay or other schemes? Why help just the rich folk? If a person filed a crime report, they submit documents to a special review office and are re-imbursed for the full value. Why should just the rich who are usually greedily speculating get all the bailouts?

Its because only the top 1% count. Afterall, we have spent how many trillion in a supposed effort to stem foreclosures and have stopped none. On top of that, they won't even say where the money went. Meanwhile, Congress has hearing after hearing with the only result being more hearings. How is it that Paulson, Bernanke, Kaskari are not in front of these committees in orange jumpsuits? I called Senator Klobuchar's (one of mine) office and talked to a staff member about this meaningless testimony and when I mention Kashkari's name, there was a pause followed by a who....? Bad liberal idea #2,075: give everyone money
We used to help "every" American who wanted a handout. It was called "welfare" and it was a disaster. Women sitting on their behinds having babies. While their boyfriends drove Cadillacs. Or the husbands left and started new families. Hard working tax payers underwrote it all. We can't ever go back to that again. Helping out banks makes sense. They lend, they keep the economy going. You can't run a business without a bank providing a line of credit and so on. Didn't the Demotards on here learn anything by that illegal sit in that took place in Chicago? Hero Blago showed what a phony he was but that's another story. But giving every sucker out there who puts his hand out some cash is a terrible idea. The rich always need help because they invest in businesses, real estate, and other important things. Giving people money so they can blow it on beer, crack, whores, wide screen TV's, gas, and stuff like that is a bad idea.

Why his victims?
Why should they take special steps to assist these well-heeled investors, when so many investors were deceived and robbed by the Wall Street houses and others and lost a ton of money? These people should not have been robbed, but a lot of people were robbed, and most of them were not extremely wealthy people with a lot of other resources. Another case of the rich and famous being treated differently.

The Madoff scheme supports my contention of the millions of spiders. How many more Madoffs are out there and how many more "investors" are gonna get the shaft? The Madoff story is popular because it puts a face on the story. If the media was doing its job, how many of the talking heads that appear on CNBC and other networks would be castigated for the crap they pulled. How many people who on the advise of these talking heads, contracted heating oil or propane back earlier this year when the price was up? The fellow who hosts "Mad Money" immediately comes to mind. How much damage did he do in pushing mortgages he knew were bad? Look at those who are still blabbing on how the worst is over and the pot of gold is right around the corner. Buy, buy, buy!

Again, Judge overrides law to drain SIPC
This judge is way off base. The wealthy were scammed for their lack of due diligence and greed and now the judge and media types want to drain the SIPC to help them. He's overturning legislative charter, not following it. From the web page of the SIPC, first item on "Who We Are"... "The Securities Investor Protection Corporation was not chartered by Congress to combat fraud." http://www.sipc.org/ AND MORE... "Why We (the SIPC) Are NOT the FDIC" "Insurance" for investment fraud does not exist in the U.S. The Federal Trade Commission, Federal Bureau of Investigation, state securities regulators and other experts have estimated that investment fraud in the U.S. ranges from $10-$40 billion a year. In the case of microcap stock fraud, the toll on investors has been estimated as $1-3 billion annually. With a reserve of slightly more than $1 billion, SIPC could not keep its doors open for long if its purpose was to compensate all victims in the event of loss due to investment fraud. It is important to understand that SIPC is not the securities world equivalent of FDIC–the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Congress specifically considered creating a Federal Broker-Dealer Insurance Corporation, but lawmakers wisely concluded that such a designation would be both misleading and out of step in the risk-based investment marketplace that is so different from the world of banking. AND STILL MORE SIPC Statute and Rules Though created by the Securities Investor Protection Act (15 U.S.C. §78aaa et seq., as amended), SIPC is neither a government agency nor a regulatory authority. It is a nonprofit, membership corporation, funded by its member securities broker-dealers.

It's anti-elitism, not anti-semitism.
As Bill Maher said, "They don't hate us for our freedoms, they hate us for our airstrikes". In much the same way, most people don't hate Jews because of their Jewishness, they hate Jews because of their illegal pro-zionist, ruling-class, elitism: APAC's infiltration of the Pentagon and virtual control of U.S. foreign policy, the Zionist "New American Century" ginning up of the Iraq war to further Israeli interests, Jewish Ben Bernake's corrupt administration of the Federal Reserve, the Treasury Dept. being run by Jewish Goldman Sachs veterans giving a 3+ Trillion dollar bailout to the Jewish Wall Street establishment, Madoff's (former National Treasurer of the American Jewish Congress) 50 Billion Ponzi scheme, the list goes on and on and on. It's not anti-Semitism. People hate Jewish policies because they promote their own ruling financial elites who have rigged the system to illegally favor the rich by exploiting the middle class and poor.

You are free to stand in the middle of the street and yell anti-Jewish slurs, you idiot. You are not free to say whatever you want on a private website. Maybe you can't grasp this with your thick, anti-Semitic skull, un-Realityzonkedout, but perhaps one of your legions of yes-morons can explain it to you. Slandering Jews every chance you get under the pretext of being anti-Zionist may be cute for you, but MILLIONS OF JEWS were slaughtered because of attitudes like yours. Quoting the right-wing Wall Street Journal is hardly an excuse either, is it, Mr. Left of Left. Such a typical Jew-hater, pretending to be a progressive. Get over yourself and stop tossing out anti-Jewish slurs like they're bonbons. Jews are not to blame for this meltdown or anything else. SOME people who happen to be Jewish, as well as many thousands of Gentiles, including this lackluster President, whom your fellow Christians elected twice, have put us in this terrible hole.
