This is exactly the sort of crime committed upon American policy holders that Michael Moore exposed in his documentary film Sicko. How many more incidents such as this are we to have to endure before the conservatives wake up and realize that their votes for Republican candidates are enabling these companies to continue to get away with these acts.

mandatory health insurance
Yes, this was an unfortunate occurrence, but our fearless Democrat candidates will prevent the likes of this by making it mandatory to buy health insurance from CIGNA and the other health insurance companies that do all they can to prevent spending money on health care. SICKO

Bankrupt that business

For every million CIGNA makes in profits,
Either two Americans will have to die or 4 to 10 will have reduced quality of life from denied health care. Those are the ones lucky enough to have insurance coverage. They make lots of millions. That is why we need the same health care that congress has. Dennis Kucinich has promised us that. We need and deserve Single payer for all Americans. Health care is a human right and moral obligation not a business. It is also important to national security and it makes good business sense as an investment. Bravo Michael Moore for bring this to the attension of American voters.

And this is EXACTLY why I am against for profit healthcare. It is NOT health care, it is gambling against a very crooked house. And even those who have insurance and have paid without asking for anything back until they need help get screwed. And YOUR health is based on nothing but THEIR profit margin. And for those who haven't seen this, the insurance companies take 30% off the top of EVERY health care dollar in this country. We spend 50% more than the next highest payers, the Canandians, and our positive outcomes are down in the mid 30's on the list of countries. Our infant mortality rate is worse than Jamaica, and they are a third world country. We are getting screwed in a HUGE way, while congress gets one of the best SOCIALIZED medicine packages in the free world. But WE don't deserve that, now do we? I say take congress's health care away until they provide US with a way to get the same package THEY have. After all, it's OUR money that is paying for it.

Al, the only issue I have with your post is that I think your estimate is way too kind to CIGNA, maybe by a factor of 10 or more.

Does congress get another pass on talking about piratization. Life insurance should be included on all health insurance policies.

There is a huge problem, but Universal Healthcare is not the answer. My employees in the UK must have insurance or they will work elsewhere. The UK based healthcare system is little more than our Medicare as it is only for the poor, at it provides poor health care. There are hundreds every year in the UK and Canada that die from this exact issue as the state decides who does and who does not receive the care. There is no question health care around the world is immoral as the rich get better treatment than the poor do. Nor is there a question we simply must fix it. It would take someone much smarter than me to figure out how, but having experienced the UK plan first hand, I can promise you it is worse than what we have today.

THIS IS THE AMERICA THE CONSERVATIVES HAVE GIVEN US, YOU'RE A NEO CON IF YOU THINK INS. CO. PROFITS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN PEOPLES LIVES, WE NEED UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE, NOT MORE WAR.

Just my thoughts, the british conservatives destroyed the UK's public healthcare system from within. But it is an important concept to consider. Many nations have excellent single payer systems, so as we plan ours, we should draw from the best and avoid the worst.
