Former Newsweek correspondent and now pundit-cum-lobbyist Richard Wolffe, who penned a recent book about President Barack Obama, quotes an alleged senior White House aide in a blog posting Friday in which the aide says that Obama heckler Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) is a "pimple on the ass of progress."
Conventional wisdom has it that the president and his team lost August, when cable went wall-to-wall with reports on town hall forums erupting with constituents upset with the president’s plans for health-care reform. But Obama’s team sees it slightly differently. “If you look at the polling, we didn’t lose ground in August,” a senior Obama adviser said. “We lost it in July and June, when Congress was in town.”
That might seem an academic distinction; after all, the headline about the polls was Obama’s approval ratings went down, significantly. But in this adviser’s view, the town hall dramas didn’t take the toll everybody think they did; rather, the outbursts were largely politically irrelevant. “I don’t think the protestors hurt us,” the senior adviser said. “We’ve done three town hall meetings and they were all fine.”
In fact, the White House is more than ready to brush aside the now-infamous protest of Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina, who yelled at the President during his televised address. “I think this is a pimple on the ass of progress,” said the senior adviser.
Wolffe appears on air as a political analyst for MSNBC, and is the author of Renegade: The Making of a President.

Note that the aide said "this" and not "he" in the quote. The headline is misleading. Sure, Wilson is an ass pimple, but that's not what the aide said if the quote is accurate.
Whoever the alleged aide is must not be very creative, the same words were thrown all over the 'Joe Wilson' TT feed on Twitter. Does the administration have a Twitter czar?

I think your headline is misleading, but fun. The aide said "this" is a pimple, not "he" is a pimple. I think the aide was referring to the entire incident and not the Congressman himself.
Why do you always sensationalize, John? The story was interesting enough, and the quote incendiary enough, without your embellishment and mischaracterizing. If you got the quote right, the aide didn't call Joe Wilson a pimple on the ass of progress, he called "it" a pimple on the ass of progress. What "it" refers to is presumably (and accurately, I'd say) Wilson's action, but it doesn't refer to Wilson himself unless the aide was attacking Wilson through grammar. TRS is a force for good, but it would be a lot more effective if you got more serious and less histrionic.
Misldeading headline. Junk.
Subconsciously accurate metaphor. Progress is the ass if you are going backwards. And in this "change we can bereave" administration, that's what we continue to do.

That the headline says one thing and therefore creating a 'personal attack' impression is fully deliberate so as to create much copy and verbiage garbage for some time to come.

W.C.: There was another reason why Lennon was on a surveillance list. His donations to the IRA. Yippie founder AJ Weberman claims he was Lennon's contact man with them and that John bought the IRA a surface-to-air missile with some of the money. Take from it what you will, but it would make sense after that. I assume it took place around 1971-72.
Also, Lennon was a supporter of freeing John Sinclair from prison on a charge of two-joints and a very stiff sentence, John played at a fundraiser for Sinclair. You know, at least after the Beatles, he really was a revolutionary in some respects, and I applaud him for it, good show John.

I guess he knows a few things, as in if you mount a good enough "Joe the Plumber" act, the media will beat a path to your door and you can spew all manner of half truths and outright lies.
But consider this... there's ample evidence that universal health care spends less money for better care. Don't know how many Brits it's gonna take saying if you show up at the doc's office in cardiac arrest, you move to the front of the line before you come to the realization that Joe and the GOPs (sounds like a rockabilly band name) might be using slightly less than the unvarnished truth.
Consider also this... he claims to know immigration law, but he obviously does not know a universal truth in ANY border area... curtail the ease of crossing and you do damage to economies quite a ways inland on both sides of the border. Looks to me like all he knows is how to act like a third-rate British tabloid owner who bought himself a seat in Parliment so he could act like a REAL third rate moron.
Now, I know why the republicans trotted out Oliver Milksop, or whatever his name was, to respond to the president's speech. All he brought to the table was the same old tired GOP proposals that have been found wanting for decades, even from within their own party rank and file. And, of course, he ended with the dire need to protect doctors from liability... probably because he's a heart surgeon.
You'll pardon me if, with a son in critical condition, now five weeks in an ICU unit BECAUSE of a doctor's negligence, if I point out the best way for a doctor to avoid a lawsuit is to quit screwing up his patients. This clown doesn't even have the stature of old "Tailgunner Joe" McCarthy. Think I'll refer to him from now on as "Trailerpark" Joe.

The vote came on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, which contained Sec. 1011 authorizing $250,000 annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrants. The program has been extended through 2009 and there is currently a bipartisan bill in Congress to make it permanent.
And whether the anti-reform anti-immigrant crowd likes it or not, hospital emergency rooms will continue to be where they go for help. Are we going to deny medical care suffering people, many of whom work here and pay taxes?
Hospitals have a legal obligation to treat everyone who comes in seeking care, regardless of citizenship status, insurance or other characteristics. This means that hospitals treat millions of people every year who don’t have the means to pay. Obviously, this drives up the nation’s healthcare costs overall. Section 1011 helps cushion the costs for hospitals, but it’s not nearly enough to cover the actual costs in most areas.
Of course, Wilson was wrong, as are those who continue to claim that the health care bill allows taxpayer dollars to pay of illegal immigrants’ health care.
