According to a new book -- excerpts of which are to be published in the next issue of GQ Magazine and detailed Tuesday -- former President George W. Bush was incredulous upon learning that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was having trouble drawing a crowd and called his campaign a "five-spiral crash." He also asserted that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was "not even remotely prepared."
RAW STORY got a copy of the excerpts Tuesday (the full excerpts are now available here). The excerpts are from former Bush speechwriter Matt Latimer's soon-to-be-published book “Speech-Less: Tales of a White House Survivor.”
Bush seemed to feel considerable unease with the choice of McCain as well. I think he liked Romney best. (The rumor was that so did Karl Rove.) My guess was the president hadn’t so easily forgotten the endless slights he’d suffered, but there was little he could do. To him, McCain’s defeat would be a repudiation of the Bush administration, so McCain had to win... I was once in the Oval Office when the president was told a campaign event in Phoenix he was to attend with McCain suddenly had to be closed to the press...
“If he doesn’t want me to go, fine,” the president said. “I’ve got better things to do.”
Eventually, someone informed the president that the reason the event was closed was that McCain was having trouble getting a crowd. Bush was incredulous—and to the point. “He can’t get 500 people to show up for an event in his hometown?” he asked. No one said anything, and we went on to another topic. But the president couldn’t let the matter drop. “He couldn’t get 500 people? I could get that many people to turn out in Crawford.” He shook his head. “This is a five-spiral crash, boys.”
Bush also is quoted as saying Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was "being put into a position she is not even remotely prepared for" after McCain announced her as his vice presidential running mate.
“I’m trying to remember if I’ve met her before. I’m sure I must have.” His eyes twinkled, then he asked, “What is she, the governor of Guam?”
Everyone in the room seemed to look at him in horror, their mouths agape. When Ed told him that conservatives were greeting the choice enthusiastically, he replied, “Look, I’m a team player, I’m on board.” He thought about it for a minute. “She’s interesting,” he said again. “You know, just wait a few days until the bloom is off the rose.” Then he made a very smart assessment.
“This woman is being put into a position she is not even remotely prepared for,” he said. “She hasn’t spent one day on the national level. Neither has her family. Let’s wait and see how she looks five days out.” It was a rare dose of reality in a White House that liked to believe every decision was great, every Republican was a genius, and McCain was the hope of the world because, well, because he chose to be a member of our party.

Bush said Palin wasn't remotely prepared?
Really??!!
He's a bigger dumbass than I thought.
Trippin, Youre a dumbass
One more example of Bush putting politics ahead of the safety and well-being of the country.
He don't care. He got away with an illegal war, etc etc etc, he was just put in a position where he had to say something nice about fellow party members.
He's nowhere near as dumb as everyone constantly criticized him for. And he got the last laugh at the end when Cheney was pressuring him to waive sentencing for whoever Cheney's friend was.
Bush for once was right. Palin had absolutely no business being picked for VP and if she had a brain in her head would have refused the position immediately. She should have understood that this was the position of the VP of the United States, not a game for running her trap about family values. To think Bush had to wait till the end of his tenure to make a right assessment
@trippin
That is the single most confusing thing I have ever read.
Finally..Bush actually is telling the truth!. Go figure.
He should know!!!
Even Dubya recognized how horrible the Palin pick was. If only he had exercised more astute judgement throughout his presidency.
I can't believe I agree with Bush (shudder)!

Sure, Dubya could see himself in Palin...he wasn't remotely prepared for the job as a previous governor either.

“What is she, the governor of Guam?”
No, she 'was' the governor of Dogpatch...before she QUIT.
Bush tells the truth for once, and word gets out--8 months after he has left office. Of course, observing that Palin was not prepared to be Vice President is about as profound and insightful an observation as noting that the sun rises in the east. Some things are so obvious that even the likes of W realize them.

If there's one thing that George W. Bush knows (and yes, there probably is just one), it's precisely what it means to be put into a position for which one is not even remotely prepared.
McCain is more prepared than Bush, who's more prepared than Palin, but McCain himself is a blithering moron who's not capable of anything beyond cracking jokes and marrying rich floozies. The country fell apart over 8 year because the entire Republican leadership was and is in a position for which it's not remotely prepared.
Wow! For a minute I forgot that he was our worst president in our country's history! Now THAT's fine writing!
Bush was not remotely prepared to judge Palin's preparedness.

Why is any body listening to some unknown person named Laimter? HE dont know a damn thing about George W Bush or Sarah Palin. Bush loved Palin just ask any real insider's. Palin was the main reason lot's of conservative's voted for Mccain Palin ticket. When she came down to Georgia she helped Saxby win his Senate seat. The lady is a lot damn smarter than yall give her credit for. Shes not gonna go anywhere. Look how she got all the liberal's worked up over the death panel's that the Democrat party is tryin to create in the health care bill's. She saw right through yall.
Where are your sources. I find this article to be a little un true. I really doubt that Bush would talk like this. Even if he did...I sure don't agree with his statement. Why would he say she is the Governor of Guam. I really doubt this article is true..
Bush was prepared....TO RUIN the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I completely agree with Lando.....made me ALMOST like the guy for a sec. I could go on for days about what a twit Sarah is....but I know that's been done to death. Lived in Alaska during all the drama-rama....FASCINATING!!!!
An asshole discussing who the dumbest is among them. Hilarious!
Who couldn't judge Palin?
Bush is a "C/D" student, but he learned politics.
Whale, ahh wonder if this "Bush" guy is really a 'Murikan.
Ahh want to see his birf cerfiticate.
Sounds like a mooslim commie faschist to me.
Go Sarah! Yew bitcha.
McCain actually crashed five planes while serving in the Navy. Was it just a coincidence or the ultimate degree of disrespect for the man that prompted Bush to refer to the McCain campaign as a "five" spiral crash?
Just how unprepared can Palin be when someone as demonstrably unprepared to be president as George W. Bush judges her to be "unprepared" to be vice president? After all the job description consists entirely of doing absolutely nothing for four years except to vote if there is a tie in the Senate?
Frankly, I think it would be hilarious to hear the former "Governor of Guam" stand at the podium in the Senate and vote "You betcha!"
Five-spiral Crash sounds like an Air Force term...Didn't McCain crash 4 or 5 jets?
Oh come on, stop pickin' on Bush. I LOVE that guy... he's always good for a laugh. I'm still waiting for what kind of stand-up he'll do next. To me, he's like one of those comedians who's always doing stand-up, on or off stage.
EVERYBODY but Fox News knew Palin was unprepared the moment she opened her mouth. Even her supporters know the truth, but the real truth is they'd prefer a train wreck like McCain/Palin to a black man in office.

Here's a what if; If Bush had picked Ridge as his veep, as he wanted to, instead of Cheney, he would have been a mediocre non-catastrophe like his father. Instead, Cheney made sure he and Rumsfeld ran everything, as it turns out, into the ground, giving the neo cons a strangle hold on policy, and Powell and the sane bureaucrats were marginalized and humiliated. Natch, we would have had Rove anyway, but Bush Sr. had a Rove-like character running his campaign too, and it wasn't a comparable record of devastation.
I think Laura has gotten to her husband, too late to help, and its finally dawned on Junior that Cheney destroyed his presidency, such as it was. That's why there's only the sound of crickets emanating from Dallas these days, except when Laura supports Obama or his wife. Cheney is out there by himself defending torture, and Bush effectively spit in his face with the Scooter thang. Ain't it great how the former Bush-worshippers can't admit that this incompetent was the conservative of their dreams back in 2000? Remember the "Support Our Leader" billboards? They don't want you to. Its like Liberals trying to forget about LBJ and his war.
That is what Bush R-TX leans to, even thought he is the only one less prepared than those he criticized.
First, Bush is hardly credulous as a politically honest person. Second, he probably hates McCain, and privately wanted him to lose. Third, and most important, he doesn't even know what state Sarah Palin is governor of, and then he is NOT referencing her preparedness for Vice-President, but rather for the rigors of the campaign trail in a national, rather than a statewide election. Read his words carefully, you'll see I'm right. Well, she WAS prepared, and as is widely acknowledged, McCain would have lost by a wider margin WITHOUT Palin on the ticket. Many have since said that if she had been at the TOP of the ticket, Palin-McCain would have won.
[...] just to rub a little extra dash of salt in the wounds, President Bush made some not-so-flattering remarks about Sarah [...]
[...] The Raw Story [...]
Sorry John, but this is one time where W could have served as an expert witness with impecable credentials. Noone was more qualified to testify as to the lack of preparedness that Palin had. Were this a trial, opposing counsel would not have been able to refute W's expert testimony.
One might ask why didn't Bush speech these smart words when he was President for 8 years? We watched Bush for 8 years as his brain had been fried by drugs and now this writer of Bush's Book wants us to believe this bull. Sarah is one step above Bush and that's not saying much. Bush messed up the Country and the World so who is he to talk. Daddy Bush got his son in the White House and the proof is in the ballots. George W. Bush was comedy relief for Foreign Leaders as they watched him make a fool of himself. I guess by lying about others Bush thinks this book will sell because he really needs the money. Americans are being used again as both Bush and Cheney are writing books to take some more money. The book sale should read " Come on idiots buy the books of lies as you believe us for 8 years while we were robbing you blind now you have to pay again for these lies" , what's sad is Laura/George have Jenna out there pimping NBC for money as she knows nothing about Journalism but needs the money for the Family. Let's hope the American people get turned of Bush/Cheney making fools of us and just let the United Nations charge them with the War Crimes they committed.
Bush made plenty of mistakes, but he knew politics, elections etc. You don't beat a popular governor (Ann Richards) and score two improbable presidential victories simply because you belong to a rich and famous family. He won (put in quotes if you want) in 2000, in a time of (apparent) peace and prosperity, and in 2004, with a war going badly, the economy so-so, and the opposition and the media united against you. I should add that Bush Sr. comeback in '88, Clinton's successful triangulation in '95 and '96, and Obama's defeat of Clinton in the primaries were equally impressive.
Something about a pot and a kettle.....
Bush can comment so clearly on knowing Palin was seriously unprepared for national politics because... he knows he was too. They both were unprepared for their VP or Pres positions intellectually, ethically, and both on their public speaking skills. Bush was a total idiot and Palin had hateful divisive public speaking style - telling a small town in Virginia that rural people are the real Americans, had real patriotism.... gee Sarah, what does that make us 260 million American citizens who live in cities? We are not real Americans? and her family values schtick was laughable.
Republicans need to shut up and go away. Their total control of Washington for 8 years brought down our Country on so many tragic fronts, Republicans like Newt, Cheney, Bush, Rove, Rice, and their arrogant cheerleaders, Hannity, Rush, O'Reilly should be ashamed to show their face... but I guess shame only comes when one has a conscience.
Yes, laughable, but Obama was also in San Francisco preaching to the choir about how rural mid-westerners cling to guns, religion, and racism because they are bitter and frustrated. Just as patronizing. Politicians will say anything.

Bush is intellectually lazy but he is not dumb -- intelligent but lacks judgment. The intellectual laziness (e.g., not thinking things through, delegation without oversight, etc.) undercuts his intelligence.

For eight years, they poked holes deep in the bowels of the ship and set the scuttling charges
(ala bldg 7?).
They did not want to inherit their own disaster, so they picked Palin/McCain.
Just to be on the safe side.
Once they buried their lies in shallow graves.

Red Stater,
You made 10+ punctuation mistakes in only a couple of sentences. Instead of spending your time on this blog, buy a basic English grammar book and start with the sections on apostrophes and possessive case. I am not trying to insult you, but you are butchering the English language.
Bush is a brilliant politician, as is his dog Rover. As for what happened to the country under his watch, that was mostly the work of the conservative wrecking crew bent on discrediting government and handing it over to private interests. I know the adage, never attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity, but with that bunch, I just don't know. I think the wisdom of being careful not to underestimate the enemy is more the ticket here. Having said that, I think it's pretty clear that Palin doesn't have one-tenth the political chops of Bush. But the Repubs were pretty much screwed anyway in the wake of Bush. Mitt Romney?, give me a break.

hey Honest Engine- Nice try. Get your facts right. Oh wait, idiots like yourself hate dem dare facts. You like gut feelings or belief. Well just because you call yourself "honest" it does not give you the go ahead to lie. Obama was in Pennsylvania stupid. And his quote is ringing truer and truer everday. Look at the sales of guns. You can bitch about it and whine and wonder why you are so disadvantaged all you want. Rethugs whine and moan. They cry. They stomp their feet. Never once having any sort of understanding about facts, honesty or morals.
“This woman is being put into a position she is not even remotely prepared for,”
I beg to differ. Remote control is the ONLY way she is prepared for her position. Witness the fact that now the only public contact she has is through Facebook with ghost written position papers. If she were ever asked to explain one of those statement papers being issued under her name on live camera, it would be a redux of her Couric interview.
"dumb" calling "dumber", the "dumbest"....go GOP!
I think there's a lot more to this, and to George Bush than we imagine. He is NOT stupid.... and he IS a 'team player', as long as he's on the team he wants to be on.
They told him that if he wanted to be president that badly, he'd have to bend over a little bit and allow the neo-cons and Kristian Kooks a little manuevering room. He did. Then the 9/11 thing - who knows if he knew anything about this at all - "Goerge, just do what we say and you'll be the successful 'wartime' president" , you know like FDR (who, I may add, lots of people accused of being a communist, socialist and jewish 'patsy' and only cemented his place in history by prosecuting WWII successfully). It didn;t work for you, but your VP seemed happy (yikes).
George, we hardly knew ye. You wanted the job? You got it. You look like a fool now for following along with the 'team'. I have a much different opinion of you than a lot of people do. Did you have to sell out? Can you do ANYTHING now to help (aside from spilling your guts, which would put you in danger)? I disagreed with 99.6% of what you did, but you were still our president.
Sorry, Oba-maniacs... it's all true. Note to President Obama: You're a great man but an amatuer politician. You have both houses of congress... use them. Fight dirty. Its all the opposition understands. Beat them at their own game.
I'm just waiting for John McCain and his daughter Meghan to speak about how they really feel about Sarah Palin. John pretends that she was a good choice; Meghan says she won't talk about it. I think John is lying; I think Meghan has plenty to say but won't do so out of respect for her father.
It's Pretty bad when someone as utterly clueless as Bush thinks you're 'not remotely prepared'
I don't think this idiot has ever figured out how ill prepared he still is!
Bush would know a five-spiral crash from personal experience. Let's see, in no particular order: Iraq war; Afghanistan war; Katrina; 9/15/08 Wall Street; his entire presidency. That's five isn't it. But surely I've left one or more out.
Paloon is the main reason McCain lost the election. I had high hopes for her, but she blew it with her provincial world view.
Who cares about all these losers. What's Bush's book entitled "I Stepped in My Pet Goat Shit?"
"The rumor was..." "My guess..." "Bush seemed..."
Another book of gossip. Meanwhile, thousands of deserving authors get passed over for real book contracts or are unable to get agents to even read their work whole they break their necks going after idiots like Palin, Rove, Cheney and Joe the fucking Plumber.
If there's one thing Duhbya knows about, it's about a spiral (as in the death spiral his approval ratings took during his administration from 90% to 19 %).
Worst President Ever (unless the gop get's palin in there in 2012 or 2016).
GW Bush was not stupid just cynical. He knew he was hyping a war w/o evidence, that the tax cuts would never pay for themselves, and that Sarah Palin is still not remotely qualified for an executive position. Which to the good fortune of the citizens of Alaska, apparently should realized as well.
This is hilarious stuff. Even Dubya knew that Palin was a disaster.
I cannot believe Bush actually said that about Palin. It's way too concise, elegant and grammatical. "Five spiral crash", I believe. “This woman is being put into a position she is not even remotely prepared for"--no way.
David, Bush won his gubernatorial elections because he was rich, knew a lot of rich people, and persuaded those rich people to give him a lot of money to run for office. The rich people hoped that when he became governor, he would run the state in a way that made them even richer. That's basically it.
Also, Bush's comment about the Governor of Guam is facetious! He's trying to be funny in that coarse, non-funny way that passes for humor in Republican circles.

"Why is any body listening to some unknown person named Laimter? HE dont know a damn thing about George W Bush or Sarah Palin. Bush loved Palin just ask any real insider's."
So-called "conservatives" always take offense when progressives, liberals, independents and moderates call them out for being "low-info" voters... for being far less informed than they both could and shoud be.
And now here you go, proving that such criticisms are right on-target.
If you didn't know already that Latimer was Bush's speechwriter -- about as "real insider" as it gets -- that's no excuse because that information is provided right in the article itself. Those statements attributed to Bush are direct quotes that the writer heard Bush himself say. So you prove two things: you don't know what you're talking about, and you can barely even read.
So there's no reason to take anything else that you have to say seriously. Your opinion is ill-informed AND you've even proven yourself incapable (or unwilling) of becoming informed, even when the information is handed right to you.
So your opinion, therefore, is meaningless... and the rest of your near-illiterate post bears that assessment out.
Wonder why this jackass isn't hiding at his ranch in Paraguay? Eight years of the "Worst President Ever" were enough...he's lucky he's hasn't been arrested and taken to the Hague to stand trial...............
Miss S,
Sure, Bush needed money and moneyed friends. But plenty of people with political ambitions are rich, have famous dads, etc., and don't win two gubernatorial and two presidential elections.
On Palin,
Bush was spot-on.
What will happen with Palin--she will probably (1) not run in 2012, OR (2) if she does and her performances at debates and press interviews are as bad as her Couric performance, she will lose badly in the primaries.
BUT, if her performance matches her solid performance in the Alaska gubernatorial debates from 2006 (available on you-tube) and she otherwise shows herself to be sufficiently familiar with national issues, she will be a tough candidate in the primaries and general election.
BTW, I'm a conservative Republican who does NOT favor Palin in 2012, because I'm suspicious of her abilities, because I dislike her Obama-like lack of experience, and because our country needs a break from the red-blue bitter divide, exacerbated by Bush and now Obama.

And until the dust settled after Super Tuesday, Hillary was indeed the likeliest person to be sitting in Bush's chair in the Oval Office. Once again, big deal.

Strangely enough, completely overlooked is Bush's comment that Obama was absolutely unprepared for the ofc. of president, and that if BS were currency, Biden would be a billionaire. He also described Hillary Clinton as having a fat ass. I never liked either Bush much but, taken all in all, I think he was right on the calls described in this article.
Well, you know, nothing surprises me anymore!!!! I will have to give him credit, he told the truth on this. The truth was that Palin had NOOO national or international experience. You act like it's some kind of feat when a Republican candidate wins the governorship of some deeply-red state like Texas. And when you add in the fact that his father was recently President of the US and a citizen of Texas, it becomes even less impressive. As for his presidency, he lost by over half a million votes to a poor campaigner like Gore and should have lost the electoral vote as well. After the first term, he had incumbency and two wars going on, making him extremely hard to beat. And he still squeaked it out over Kerry. Great politician? I don't see it.
If anyone would know about finding yourself in a position you're totally unfit and unprepared for, it would be George W. Bush. Palin to be McCain's Cheney? Even George could see this was a disaster.

'Doubtless lots and lots of Republicans regarded Palin as a very risky choice politically, and would have agreed that she lacked the experience and intellect to do the job if elected. And I'm sure most of them expressed those thoughts privately with family and others they could trust. Big deal.'
In fact, many pundits openly expressed that she was not at all up to it.
'And I think the "Guam" crack is pretty funny. And it sounds like the kind of joke you'd expect W to make which lends an air of authenticity."
I'm not so sure. I should think Dumbya never heared o' any place outsidea Texas.
'Guam? Where 'n tarnation is that? Heh heheheh.' would be the expected Bush response. He was just better than Palin at being cornered with an actual question he couldn't answer (they were legion) by deflecting it with a joke.
Palin, OTOH, doesn't do jokes so well, unless anyone can recall any attempts.
I think Bush realized when he got into the White House that he really wasn't prepared to run the country. It's a lot different than running Texas since the governor doesn't do much compared to other state governors. Cheney/Rumsfeld probably made most of the decisions or just pushed Bush into making their decisions. Even Bush realized Palin wasn't bright enough to become VP. She couldn't even finish her term as governor of Alaska. McCain is not too bright either, however he would've been been better than Bush in 2000.
I'm surprised by Republicans their always voting against their better interest. Did they really think Palin or Bush was that smart?? I would be driving in the middle americas farm country and I would see huge McCain signs and I would say to myself do the farmers realize that McCain has voted against every farm bill. Its also funny that the poor South continue to vote Republican.. do they really think the Republicans care about them..they only care about the top 2%.
This is the most HILARIOUS thing I've read today!!! First, Bush goes away and Cheney writes a book slamming Bush. Then Bush calls Palin dumb. I guess Bush forgot that he'd made a special trip to Utah to help the McCain/Palin ticket a mere 2 weeks after McCain adamantly announced he would never choose Mitt as a running mate. He even called Mitt's faith a cult. But, McCain managed to raise $30million in 2 days from the good christians of Mitt's biggest red state.
There is no manual that prepares you for the presidency. Obama didn't have the history of dirt most politicians have on the hill so it was easier to sell him. But, I have to admit, this was classic. I won't buy the book, I'll probably read the cliffnotes while I'm in the library reading REAL material. They certainly don't need my money. I'm still waiting on them to account for the $12billion that was lost in the Carribean enroute to Iraq for the war effort and the 4 pallets of American dollars confiscated when they found Sadaam.
I need to find W's email and thank him for this laugh. I am in TEARS!!

"Sure, Bush needed money and moneyed friends. But plenty of people with political ambitions are rich, have famous dads, etc., and don't win two gubernatorial and two presidential elections."
Guess what, Bush didn't 'win' two Presidential elections. it is an historical fact that the radical SCOTUS intervened, interfered and crowned him.
Furthermore, there is more than ample credible evidence that the 2004 election was also stolen.
Moreover, his 'degrees' (that's almost funny. Bush has degrees?) were bought and paid for by his fabulously rich father and his records at Andover, for starters, remained sealed and concealed from scrutiny.
Furthermore, the Bush clan built their family fortune enriching and enabling the rise to power of Adolf Hitler. I openly challenge you to contradict that established fact.
I cannot claim to have a deep knowledge of Bush' tenure as governor except to say he signed off on more executions of prisoners than any governor in history that I am aware of, including that of a retarded man.
hey RFI Democracy--
It was Clinton who suspended his campaign to fly back to Ark to sign the warrant to kill a retarded man--Ricky Rector was the name, I think. Climb down, or fall off, the high horse.By the way, seen Obama's Columbia records around here? Maybe Berger pinched them by mistake
Also, I still don't see any comments from democrats about Biden's qualifications (as you may recall, he and not Obama was Palin's counterpart--not that Obama's wealth of experience doing the bidding of Harry Reid was inspiring). Really, now--how can you explain Obama picking someone whose mindblowingly stupid comments clearly disqualify him from taking over the White House in an emergency? He's the crazy aunt in your attic; never have I seen one so completely ignored.
Who cares what some war criminal thinks.
YOU ARE NOT PREPARED!
Bush the 'pilot extraordinaire' who was more likely told to sit in the back seat, don't touch a motherfucking thing, and keep your yap shut.....boy, that pile of putrid lying shit calling another pile of putrid irresponsible shit like McCornhole a 'five spiral crash' is like the TURD calling the SCUPPER PUPPY, BROWN.
of course, the S.S. who guarded bush had a codword for him: PILE IT (not PILOT)
If Bush knows anything (debatable) it's how to get Republican yahoos to turn out to vote. I respect his opinion in this case.....never thought I'd say THAT!
is Bush trying to win points over here, or what ?!
Palin was and is a joke and if any Republican really believes she was a good choice, that is why the Republicans lost the election. I'm an independent and would have never voted for McCain, he's a disaster....and Palin? Really? That is the best you could do? Quite pathetic actually, so I voted for Obama.
But is Obama prepared? Have you seen him without his teleprompter? He is as bad as Bush. Also, he's never even had a real job in his life. He went from school to professor to community organizer. Some of the gaffes and poor decisions Obama has made so far make Bush look good. Obama will be a one term president for sure.
This is the story you should be following.

Phox noose @ 56: Spot on*! What if former President Bush turned Whistleblower...? [Attn Dubya: Surely would make a great coda to future historical writings about your tenure in the WHouse.] And Godspeed to all Whistleblowers across our land, from sea to shining sea! [Please, come pouring into the Congressional Halls like some angelic cavalry and Speak Truth to Power, STAT, the better to help our Nation heal BigTime.]
Truth really is stranger than fiction, so I will be seriously on my knees praying for a "George spills on the neoCons to save his soul" scenario. And here's what President Obama can do for W in return: Find a way to make him Commissioner of Baseball. It's a known known that CoB is the appointed position George really wanted [insert Turdblossom joke here, maybe with a little '00 SCOTUS action to kick it up], and he rejected the call as the GOP/RNC "have a beer with him!" Go-To-Guy until he was passed over for said DreamJob.

*...tho I reject the "Oba-maniacs" moniker. I support the President -- who is also a DC-newbie of a sort, given the decades most of the MainOperatives have been there -- but certainly don't support everything he does. He's p*ss'd me off a number of times -- but it helps to remain mindful that B/C is finally OUT... and it could have been That Other One and Her.
I thought for a moment, Bush does have a brain, lets see, " I am the war President ",
no one will dispute that Bush was not a ready to take this country to war.
Bush knew Katrina was on the way , and Bush did nothing. We may not know if
Sara was ready, but we have the record that show, we have yet to get a Bush
that is prepared.
I had to pinch myself, at last, we know that a jackass can talk.
You will all see via history that GWB has not bee the evil that you think. What would any of you done given the circumstance. Give it 15 years and I am SURE you will be crying about OBAMA rather than Bush...get OVER it already. The greatest threat we have ever faced is sitting in the White House as we type!
People think Obama is full of original ideas....I say he's a PUPPET for the rich and powerful you never see. I remember saying to my family when he made his "historic" speech at the Dem. National Convention a few years ago that he was the chosen one and this was his debut....boy was I right.
Most Left-wingers don't even see that the leadership in their own party isn't about the "little people" any more, any more that Republican leadership is about freedom. WAKE UP people, this isn't about Race, Respect OR Reason....its about POWER! Those who have it, those want it, and those who REALLY weild it!
I say...any one IN....vote them out, from EITHER party! Ban anyone with a dual degree in Political Science and Law from running for office...all you have is a government with a dual degree in speaking out of both sides of their mouth...
OK I know thats a bit extreme, but you get my point....I am GLAD to see people so passionate about politics these days. For too long the sheeple of America have been run over and scammed by the very people we have elected to represent us! PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE! Get out of your "Gimme", "I am owed" mindset, throw all your "Race cards" out of the deck! This is AMERICA...you CAN still get what you WORK for, make your dreams come true. It won't come from a government program...comes from WORK, PERSERVERENCE, SACRIFICE! Thats also what we need to expect from our elected officials.
Here's another thought...how do you suppose the political parties that be would react if everyone in America registered as an Independent? They would be in PANIC. They would have to work for EVERY vote, instead of spending all their time courting the votes they DONT have. WOW, they might even have to run on an actual PLATFORM instead of a "slogan" or "feelings" .
Obama is not evil because he is a democrat...or a black man. His evil comes from the duplicity, contradictions and outright lies he has told and IS telling. It comes from the Pelosi's, Wrangle's and Frank's that hover around him like the proverbial flies on $%^. It comes from the fact that he is... behind all the pretty speeches, manufactured double-talk and fancy rhetoric....a HARDCORE Socalist! He is the pointman for the people behind the scenes, more powerful than any president, with fingers in the pies of most of the countries of the world. People laugh, cry "conspiracy theory" and dismiss. I say to you...follow the money! Follow the power brokers! They will lead you to the truth of the matter.
Be careful what you wish for people. Whan your freedom and dreams are gone, you will have no one to blame but yourselves. Republican OR Democrat...PAY ATTENTION, FOLLOW THE MONEY, LOOK BEHIND the face of the politician......do not follow blindly. Enter with your eyes open and scrutinize those who want the power VERY carefully!
The awakening of the populace is this countrie's only hope. I only hope it does not come to late!
In a debate between dumb and dumber, everybody wins!

True, of course. Instantly reminded me of two old saws:
"It takes one to know one." & "A stopped clock is right twice a day."
Actually GWB WAS everything I think he was. A person impersonating a president who murdered Americans and Iraqis needlessly. And who left us with a staggering debt and 2 wars to continue.
And who left Osama Bin laden out there laughing at us. This is not about Obama, its about GWB.
Red Stater(s) - Please grow some balls and secede from the US already .
We all know you hate this country because you and your kind already left once, and it's been a constant struggle trying to get you to abide by the rules ever since.
If you don't like the USA, leave. AGAIN. The original authentic US springs from the Northeast. Look it up in your bible.
Amy is a hypocrite, she kept her mouth shut the last 8 years but now all of a sudden we need to worry about the person who was elected with a large majority!
You republicans have devolved to a Joke!

Amy. Is that post from your own brain or are we into a little

As long as Obama keeps driving your form of right wing scum totally nuts, he's my man.
Eight years of Bush wasn't enough for you megalomaniacs
was it?
No wonder Jimmah likes my brother so well, it'll finally get Jimmah off the hook as the worst president in the history of the USA! BTW brother, still in mud hut over here in Kenya, please send hope and change here ASAP!

Bush at his best. Here is trhe video:

Palin was an excellent choice. John McCain may be a jerk but he's no
fool. I don't think he really wanted to be president. He could see what
a mess he'd be inheriting after eight years of Bush. Once he picked
Palin, he knew he was home free and Obama would be the one stuck
in the White House when the million man moron march flooded down
Pennsylvania Avenue.
It's pretty apparent that McCain began to regognize he could never dig himself out of the hole that past administration left, and abruptly decided to include Palin on his ticket to tank his campaign, which worked.

Like he was?????After eight years of being an idiot,,, I mean president. He is still unprepared and ill prepared to make any statement about others.
Of course, Mcinsane chose Palin on purpose to help throw the election. But really the people who CHOSE Mcinsane for the republican candidate were morons to begin with and ill prepared to make a logical decision. After all the debates it was obvious there was only one real candidate to choose,, and only about 10% of the people voted for that person in hopes that he would be the republican candidate.
When George W.Bush says Sarah Palin hasn't got a clue, I guess she's more clueless than I thought.
yarply
'But really the people who CHOSE Mcinsane for the republican candidate were morons to begin with and ill prepared to make a logical decision.'
I agree, though they didn't really choose him. It's more a case of the rest of the candidates eliminating themselves. The public roundly rejected Judy, Huck, and the Mormon and when the dust cleared, McStain was the last 'man' standing.
Remember, the re-animated corpulent corpse known as LimpBalls, hated his guts but, when he won the nomination by default he was all, 'McStain rocks'.
BUSH can say THAT about himself--
he was NOT REMOTELY PREPARED--Bush.
Cheney ran the presidency and Bush was the cardboard PROP.
I think its far more a case of the media picking McCain AND Obama/Hillary. It was clear from the first debates that only certain people would get questions and the others were left to pick their noses and go by the wayside or just wait in the lounge.
We should have abandoned the media at that point and let them know no one was watching. The debates were freaking embarrassing. Ron Paul, probably the smartest of them all wasn't even eye candy.

George Bush astute?
I don't think so, KB.
He is about as astute as the shit I dropped out in the
field last night during a minor bout of food poisoning.
Obama may be a flash in the pan, but at least he
is literate. It is so incredibly refreshing to have a president
who can complete a coherent sentence. Obama may
come nothing, but at least he won't embarrass us to death.
come to nothing
Lyman
Likewise.
All Bush did for eight years was fuck off on holidays (and party?) and clear brush and ride his bike. If he didn't learn to crack a couple of jokes while he was hanging out in Crawford for 1/3 of his 'presidency' (an all-time record, BTW) he'd have to be brain-dead.
Sorry, 'astute'? I don't think so.
'Astute' people don't say 'is our children learning', even under pressure of bright lights and rolling cameras.
The quote makes it clear that Bush had no idea who Palin was, and his quote was saying that anybody who had never been in the national spotlight would be unprepared for the pressure. So saying that Bush was calling Palin specifically unprepared is a bit misleading and unfair.
Which isnt to say Palin was prepared, since she was obviously a trainwreck.
George Bush stating Palin was unqualified. Only truth he has spoken in the last 9 years. If anyone should know about being unqualified for a job it's certainly Bush.
I am just amazed at our country when so many applaud and agree with morons like Bush, Palin, Hannity, Coulter, Beck, Levin and the sorriest human being alive, Rush Limbaugh (tied with Dick Cheney). These are revolting, disgusting people who have helped take us down this path of destruction. I'm baffled as to how the Bush administration could drive us off a cliff and yet so many now blame Obama for our problems!? Amazing how they just forget how we got in this mess.
